Behold the horror of the.... Dire Duck!!!

Homebrew and House Rules

So I am running a campaign in which my girlfriend is playing a Nixie. I'm hoping to give her a fitting mount and I was thinking Nixies live in ponds. Ducks live in ponds. Nixies could ride big ducks! I haven't found a "duck" or "swan"entry for stats to play around with, anyone have any suggestions on how to build it?

To standardize it with normal animal companions:

I was thinking more of a purchasable mount than animal companion (she's a barbarian so no pet class feature) still looks good, maybe a wereduck (or dracoduck I guess) dragon with a sonic quack breath weapon :P

LET'S! GET! DANGEROUS!

What are the weight-height parameters of creature sizes?

Just wanted to point out that if it's a male duck mount, you can refer to it as a "drake".

Imagine the look on the other players' faces when you announce that she gets to have a drake for a mount. ;)

Heh. That reminds me of a spelljammer campaign I ran way back in the day. One of the players found an egg, which I may or may not have led him to believe contained a dragon. When it eventually hatched, out came a largish chick. The player insisted the egg was special and asked to roll for a psionic power. I felt bad for screwing him over, so let him do it.

Thus was born Occupant, the psionic chicken with pyrokenisis...

Reminds me of the Dire Goats I once had giants herd for feeding themselves...

Now I'm just waiting for stats for the Dire Rabbit, because, y'know, that rabbit's dynamite!

Bullockornis, nicknamed the Demon Duck of Doom, is an extinct flightless bird that appeared to have lived in the Middle Miocene, approximately 15 million years ago, in what is now Australia.

Bullockornis stood approximately 2.5 metres (8 ft 2 in) tall. It may have weighed up to 250 kg (550 lb). Features of Bullockornis's skull, including a very large beak suited to shearing, indicate that the bird may have been carnivorous. The bird's skull is larger than that of many small horses.[1] Many paleontologists, including Peter Murray of the Central Australian Museum, believe that Bullockornis was related to geese and ducks. This, in addition to the bird's tremendous size and possible carnivorous habits, gave rise to its colourful nickname. The bird's generic name is translated as "ox-bird.

I would totally say a Dire Swan would be a medium monster...
