So was watching the "local" news and saw Pastor David Grisham is asking residents to travel, shop, fly or do anything in Houston due to their election of an openly gay mayor.

He's even gone and created this online forum.

Liberty's Edge

Nothing to do with the mayor's sexual orientation;
Houston should be boycotted, though, on general principle.

The Exchange

Well it is Houston. Nothing to do with her sexual orientation if she is competent to lead.

Ughhh... pardon me for saying this, but what a douche bag. She was elected fair and square by the residents here. Furthermore, he doesn't even live here. I moved here from Atlanta over a year ago because there were actually jobs here and economically this area was stable. I wish he would get off his high horse and help people locally instead of throwing stones. It doesn't seem very christianly to talk crap about others instead of trying to do things to help your community. If this is a ploy to increase the economic situation in Amarillo, then that's just dirty politics. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I'd like to see all the ****-talkers in the world put their money where their mouth is and do something productive instead of mudslinging. It's easy to stand on the sidelines instead of standing up... Isn't the job of a "holy man" to help others? I just when you're entrenched in politics, it takes too much effort to turn the other cheek. >:(

At sucking butt.

Hahahaha! HD will be here in a minute, talkin' smack about how Deep Ellum isn't weird enough anymore and so he had to move to Htown. I knew this would happen and I knew who would show up. Go Heathy! Big D forever! Houston is the 4e of Texas cities!

Liberty's Edge

That's an insult to 4e.
Houston is the FATAL of Texas.

Is somebody insulting the only game in town here!
Beep beepbadeebop...zibbity-da-doo!

Liberty's Edge

Is there a celebrity homes tour down there of Shelly Duvall, Hillary Duff, and Anna Nicole Smith's old flops?

Liberty's Edge

Refer to Mairkurion's post.

And even the Dallas Morning News had a front page story (with a complete page two follow up) detailing how much Houston owns Dallas.

As to the preacher dude. Screw him. I <3 my lesbian mayor. :)

Even if she is a dirty leftie dem :)

Seconded.

Ahahaha!

Liberty's Edge

...and Deep Ellum, from here forward, will be referred to as "West End East".

Also seconded.

HAHAHA!

Liberty's Edge

Too many rich f+%*s from Houston send their rich f&$$ kids to SCAD, which makes my life even more miserable, having to deal with their ditzy rich f%@* attitudes.

Liberty's Edge

Let's see: More theater seating? Houston, check.
More art museums? Houston, check.
More jobs? Houston, check.
Younger population? Houston, check.
Better looking women (with 47% less plastic surgery and fake tanning)? Houston, check.
Better gay pride parade? Houston, check.
Less Oklahomans? Houston, check.
More restaurants? Houston, check.
Me? Houston, check.

Edit: Forgot: The good G. Bush? Houston, check.

Dude, if you think Dallas is any different in that regard...

I motion to reclassify Mr. Houstonderek as a hostile witness to his own proceedings, and humbly rest my case.

A-HAHAHAHA!

Dude, but seriously:

Houston SUXX!!!

Good night everybody!

Liberty's Edge

Damn, you South Oklahomans sure are a funny lot. Wonder when some Texans will show up...

Not really. I'm just jumping on the bandwagon in order to piss people off. I'm a complete prick at 1:00 AM.

You'd fit in perfectly in Dallas then ;)

Because they send all the surgically-enhanced, fake-tanned ones to Georgia.

No, we banish them to Dallas :)

Austin?

Liberty's Edge

Austin is cool, but I still can't resist the urge to tell people pimping "Keep Austin Weird" gear they're about fifteen years too late...

Edit: That is, Austin is still cool, and a great place to be (wouldn't mind moving back there some day, even), but it definitely isn't weird any more...

Scarab Sages

If the wife and I ever move out of Philly, it will be to go and live in Houston.

As was said to hell with him and good for Houston, her job has nothing to do with what sex she likes to sleep with.

Arlen:

Strickland Propane? Check
Tom Landry Middle School? Check
Dale Gribble's "Dale's Bug-Bug Dead"? Check
Weathergirl Nancy Gribble? Check
Sugarfoot's? Check

At least you guys can argue over second place.

Don't forget about the Boycott against Wizards of the Coast. It has been going strong for nearly 3 years now!

Feh, I've better things to worry about than a mayor's choice of bedmates.

Living in the Killeen-Temple area most of my life, I can testify that as being the truth. All of Central Texas leaves much to be desired.

I've heard this... I know it's more west tx than central tx, but my dad lived in Odessa for a brief time in his life and he still refers to it as his own personal hell. Never been there myself, but I have heard Houstonians call it bland.

Midland-Odessa are probably my least favorite places on Earth.

Hell smells better than Midland-Odessa.

On the Arlen side, first we lose King of the Hill, then we lose Brittany Murphy. Sad.

DFW rulez!!!

C'mon guys, can't y'all get along? Houston... Dallas... Austin... makes no difference, they're all in Texas, the armpit of America!

I love to see what happens to people like CJ when they have to move to Texas... or sometimes when they just visit here for an extended period of time.

For a minute there, I thought people were actually boycotting HD.

Dark Archive

The only time I go to Houston is when I have a layover on my way to San Antonio.

You actually get tougher. When it gets over 95 degrees in Philly, you Yanks start dropping like flies. Here in Texas we remark how nice it is. ;)
