I'm curious if this was intended as some kind of Easter Egg for music fanatics, or if the artist just liked the symbol. Given how noisy Einstürzende Neubauten's work can be, I'll never "hear" combat involving a Tower Shield in my head the same way.

I believe it was either a coincidence, or the artist throwing in an Easter Egg that no one here at Paizo got because we spent our fanatic points on things other than music and didn't realize it was a symbol already in use.

Although it becomes increasingly difficult each level, I try to keep my Knowledge (Music) and Profession (Dungeon Master) maxed, and when I noticed the symbol the association (intentional or otherwise) brought a smile to my face.
I just assumed that the artist likes Blixa Bargheld as much as I do.
Or they got the glyph from the same cave wall?
I've been amused by the prevalence of this glyph already when the item cards first came out. :)
I just noticed this myself and had to do a web search to see if anyone else had noticed as well. I could totally see the band using a tower shield as a musical instrument.
