No I didn't actually. I said that they didn't, and that was a change in how Paizo handled it (some items grant the equivalent in a bonus on a skill), but I did not say that they granted skills in 3E.

In the post above yours, Kaisoku said "I'm saying that in 3.5e there was only one type of stat increase effect, and in Pathfinder there are two (temporary and permanent). Are you trying to say that this is not considered a change?"

You replied, presumably to that post, "Yes, I am saying that it is not a change, there where both in 3.5 as well. In 3.5, for example, a temp boost to Int did not grant you more "temporary" skill points. Only Permanent boost did. They also did not grant you additional spells, because they did not last 24 hours (so would not last through the entire day -> rest -> spell prep -> adventuring day."

The first sentence you are saying that the two types of stat increase (temporary and permanent) is not a change from 3.5 to PF.

In the second sentence you say that in 3.5 a temporary boost to int did not grant you more skill points.

In the third sentence you say "Only Permanent boost did." The only way I can interpret this is that you are saying in 3.5 there are permanent boosts to intelligence that grant retroactive skill points. This is not the case. (Unless you can find a rule stating otherwise)

You may be confused by the inherent bonus granted by something like a Tome of Clear Thought which grants extra skill points when you level up, not retroactive skill points based on your level and (now modified) intelligence score. This is fully different from PF, where a permanent boost to intelligence (from a Wish, leveling up, or wearing a headband for day) does grant you retroactive skill points. (in the case of the headband, specific skill ranks that you don't really have control over)

If I've misread what you were trying to say, I apologize.

Now that SKR has cleared it up, this isn't for argument so much as just clarifying what I was trying to say.

I didn't mean to imply all Permanent bonuses to Int would increase skills, but rather that no temporary ones will, which is the same in PF and 3.5, just the exact way that PF handles it is different.
