Star Trek: The Hotness

There are now a couple of threads comparing the various Captains of Star Trek. But that is not why we really watch.

How about a comparison that really matters, who was the best Ms Fanservice?

  • Lieutenant Nyota Uhura/Nichelle Nichols (The Original Series)
  • Yeoman Janice Rand/Grace Lee Whitney (The Original Series)
  • Lieutenant M'tress/Majel Barrett (The Animated Series)
  • Dr. Beverly Crusher/Gates McFadden (The Next Generation)
  • Commander Deanna Troi/Marina Sirtis (The Next Generation)
  • Major Kira Nerys/Nana Visitor (Deep Space Nine)
  • Lieutenant Jadzia Dax/Terry Farrell (Deep Space Nine)
  • Kes/Jennifer Lien (Voyager)
  • Seven of Nine/Jeri Ryan (Voyager)
  • Commander T'Pol/Jolene Blalock (Enterprise)
  • Ensign Hoshi Sato/Linda Park (Enterprise)

(This only lists the 'cast regulars' intended for this character role)

  • Liberty's Edge

Call me a weirdo, but I always thought Katey Mulgrew was hot.

Call me crazy but Jeri Ryan is overrated and so is Jolene.

    Marina Sirtis...rules.

Edit, just remembered Grace...wow, tough call, call it a draw.

    True! :)

I did not list her only because she was not "cast" as a Ms. Fanservice!

Neither was Linda Park, but someone woke up and realized that in the Mirror Universe episode. ;D

Liberty's Edge Contributor, RPG Superstar 2012

I liked Terry Ferrell and fell for the stunt casting of Jeri Ryan.

Say, does Ezri Dax count for this list?

Paizo Employee Director of Brand Strategy

For me, it's Jadzia Dax (not Ezri) for the win, no contest. Though I would add B'Elana Torres to the list, as well as Ro Laren, and Tasha Yar. And what about Uhura from the new movie? Way hotter than Nichelle Nichols.

    Liberty's Edge

I don't think I'd have called Beverly Crusher fan service had she not left the show then later returned. You also forgot that cute gal who played the latest Dax...

I had originally listed Nicole de Boer and Denise Crosby, but then took them off because the list was getting too long.

    Liberty's Edge

Denise Crosby's return as a romulan commander was the ultimate fanservice.

Lieutenant Ilia/Persis Khambatta was not included for the same reason that Lieutenant Uhura/Zoë Saldaña. The above list only included the television productions and only included the actresses cast for a "fanservice" role. :)

But, even within that limitation, there may well be actresses that should have been included that I did not (Denise Crosby for example).

That will take some time to put together.

Not if the listed characters are as much "fan service" as you claim they are. I think a lot of the fan service came after people became fans of the sexy characters, and not the other way around, though.

    Oh and top 3
Jennifer Lien - hated her character but she was darn cute
    Jolene Blalock
    Terry Farrell

    But you left off

    Nicole de Boer

The reason for that was mentioned about. Even so, it was still wrong of my to omit her.

Evidently, there's lots of love for Nicole de Boer. :)

I'm a big fan of Nichole de Boer. I was sad when the canceled Stargate Atlantis because she and Jewel Staite had both just found homes on that series. And M'ress was the main reason I now have an obsession with catgirls.

Hmm, Jolene Blalock was definately fan service. So was Jeri Ryan, but it was inverted because she could act. (Jolene Blalock may be able to act, but in that role it was kept cleverly hidden).

Nichelle Nichols was kind of the opposite, her character was to show Roddenberry's space diversity, and ended up contributing to his bed diversity too :P

Yeoman Rand was likely fan service. To hear GLW's account, it was concern about her size that contributed to her drug problems (shame, I like girls w/curves). If she would have developed more, we'll never know.

Her role developed, get your minds out of the gutter.

Mirror Hoshi, definately fan service, no complaints here. The fact that it gave Linda Park a chance to stretch was nice too.

Deanna was fan service in those outfits, for certain.

Hmm, I don't know if Jadzia was or not, since she got some meaty parts (no I'm not talking about Worf, stop it!) Erzi Dax? Definately. (Would have loved a male Dax, for the Worf/Sisko interactions, but that would have thrown the male/female balance all askew.)

Some fan service. She turned out to be brighter and more devious then all the men in that two parter combined and ended up overthrowing the Empire and putting herself on the throne. pparently the authors thought guys would be attracted to someone who can outthink them and still be great in bed. Okay I admit I was turned on by it.

What, no love for B'Elanna Torres ?

I'd definitely go with Jadzia Dax. She's sexy *and* she's got brains!

Though Seven of Nine probably was the most effective use of this tactic.

7 of 9 is the ONLY Star Trek action figure I own. I'm more of a Star Wars guy...

Going off her voice alone it has to Len, she has a voice like warm butter.

Going off sight alone it would be T'pol

Going off all factors it can be no one else but Jadzia Dax

Okay ... how does one sound like warm butter? I've heard of someone feeling like warm butter...;)

But if we were to open the field up to supporting characters, the list would get way too long, too fast. I always had a soft spot for Vash, you know.
