Over the top Pathfinder PbP

Gamer Connection

I've never run a PbP on here, but have played in many. Thinking about a concept that came to me after reading "Game Night" by Jonny Nexus, of an over the top, ridiculous game for fun and comedy.

Pathfinder rules from main book only but ability matrix of 20,20,20,8,8,8 before racial adjustments. Starting at 1st level, Maximum gold, and maximum HP each level. Very tongue in the cheek game with Action Points awarded for ridiculous but cool maneuvers and action.

If anybody is interested in trying out something different, give me a short character concept, and I'll chose 5-6 for the game. Frequent posting will be advised (Average of daily), or your character might end up in a pickle. Interested players reply by Thursday evening, and I'll try to get the game going this weekend if there is any interest.

Sounds like fun, I'm interested, I think I will play a Gnome Druid who rides his Wolf into combat with a lance, if i can afford it, if not, then a makeshift lance of a quaterstaff.

That sounds so.. oddly interesting, I'll toss my card in. I'm thinking of a Half-Elf Inquisitor/Assassin, following the philosophy of exterminating the threats to the faith by becoming the monster the monsters fear.

Could the party accomodate a paladin?

I'm thinking of someone with ideas way above his station. He truly believes he is the hand of god and everyone else is blessed to be breathing the same air. And this is all based upon a chance (and wholy innocent) remark or incident that convinces the character that he's been visited and chosen by his god.

I'm up for it.

I'd think a Mad Gnome or Halfling Barbarian should be fun.

In his mind he's 6' 5" ... charging into battle furiously ... swinging his "massive" blade :)

Everybody laughs at first, until Dalwyn(The First Gnome Rager) rips out their throats. (After he climbed on a small stool :P)

As for the stats, I can pick 3 massive stats ... and 3 crappy stats ... any which way I want ?

-TDL

Sounds like fun. If there is still room i'm thinking of a halfling with lame legs, who has turned to wizardry to help him move around. Floating disc, mage hand etc.

Well, I'm interested. Room for an Elven Alchemist? Got run out of the last city he was in because of a little "accident" (An overreaction, really. It's not like anyone was in that warehouse, after all.), and generally just a mild-mannered scientist who carries around a large amount of explosives.

Sorry. Main rulebook only at this time. I will add the new classes when the Players Options book comes out, but don't have the time to keep up with the new classes till then. Can you think of another class combo to accomplish this character build?

Certainly. That's probably the most "over the top" class in the game, and the illusions of grandeur will be a lot of fun to play with.

Yes. You can put the stats anywhere you want...and this is before racial bonuses.

Yes. Still room. This one is not first come, first served. It's cool concept, and ability to post frequently dependent.

Entrants won't be cut off till tomorrow evening probably. Again frequency of posting (Don't want everybody to have to wait on one player to post), and character concept will be deciding factor.

A little more about the game. Instead of Traits, there will be a list of options available to the player at first level. They will be things such as;
1. 10 fingers feat: You've got 10 fingers why not 10 rings.

2. Magical Dumpster Dive: You found this real cool magical item in the compost heap of Gomer the Pile Driver, Guru of Marbay.

3. Sure it stacks: You can pick one bonus every time you take this feat, that allows that kind of bonus to stack.

4. Hit the rewind: Once per session, you can hit the rewind button, and reverse something you just said or did. (Note: this is actions, not dice rolls or other mechanics)

There will be more...this is just the a parcel of the atmosphere I'm looking for.

Setting will be the infamous world of Golly-i-ran.

Schweet :)

I can post multiple times a day, I'm a system administrator and work behind a computer 8h a day :)

And I have multiple computers at home ... So I can mostly post from 0800-2300h GMT +1 (I live in the Netherlands/Europe)

Unfortunately, that was it. I'll back out and make room for the next entrant. ^^;

No Alchemist then? Shoot. I'll be back with another idea soon.

EDIT: What sounds better, a human sorcerer con artist or a half-elf bard who insists that he's a captain despite readily admitting that he isn't actually the captain of anything?

(I admit, both of these are previous characters of mine. "Honest" Fineal and Captain Geoff Vanderhaven. I hope you won't hold that against me.)

After much deliberating, I decided to go with the half-elf bard who acts like a slightly-delusional version of Errol Flynn. Feel free to ignore my previous post.

Um, Dm, could I please get a list of players and reserves, I'm not too sure who is playing and who isn't.

Hm, yes .. I would like to know too ;)

If I'm enrolled in the Rise of the Runelords AP on these forums (besides two others on 2 seperate forums) .. I might just want to be put on the reserve list.

Giving other people the players spot. 4 PbP adventures is a bit too much I reckon.

If I don't get picked for that AP, then I'll want to play my Gnome Rager though ;) :P

This really wasn't intended to be a first come first serve type of game, but since only (5) have really expressed interest so far it might be ;).

Ekeebe - Gnome spiked ball of charging furry fury.
Abstractxp - ()*^$ don't stink Paladin
TDLofCC - Gnome or Halfling Barbarian with Napoleon Complex
Ravn - Elminster and Ironsides co-mingle
Davi - Captain of his own mind.

I will take applications till Midnight tonight, but above is it for now.

Cool :)

I was thinking of a Gnome version of He-Man ... including the terrible outfit.

Maybe I should include Handle Animal then too ... and buy a Tiger :D

Although we already have a tiger in the party.

I'll go lookup some more cliche stuff from He-Man to incorperate.

Here we go:

Before entering a rage he yells:
"By the power of Gorum...I have the power!"

In his mind this describes him best:
Delwyn is a testament to strength and endurance both mentally and physically. Delwyn is a true hero.

He thinks he's the strongest man in the Universe. Period.

He wears only a loincloth plus a studded leather armor, ofcourse with a red cross in the middle. He uses a greatsword and a greataxe in battle.

this party needs something Large. Half-giantish type to throw the little ones around and swing weapons the size of humans like they were twigs.

or a black clad "I-shoot-rays-that-drain" necromancer

Past deadline but if you can use someone I'm here.

I've nearly finished his stats, skills and feats.

However, I have a question about the gold.
A barbarian get 3d6 x 10gp starting gold, so my max gold is 180gp ?

When he's done I'll show him here :)

-TDL

Feli = me, accidentaly posted with alias

Here we go ... I present Delwyn Mane ... Fearless Gnome Barbarian.

"By the Power of Gorum ... I have the POWERRRRRRAAAAAH !!!"

I will create a character by tomorrow evening for you.

Sorry I can't do it any sooner, but I must buy groceries or I fear I shall starve.

You'll be first alternate. Like to have characters up by Sunday evening, and I'll start the campaign Monday evening (When I get in my hotel).

You are correct on the gold...However check the OOC thread for possible more spoils.

Looks good on first glance. I'll check in more detail before starting.

No problem...Death from starvation = slow posting so go get some grub.

Haven't heard from Ravn since Tuesday so you're in if still interested. I think the sorcerer idea might work better with this crowd, but you can play either one since I'm writing the adventures you can play what you want, and I'll make it work.

ok, I'll come up with a magic user

Yeah, sorry. I'm going to have to back out of this one, as i'm pretty swamped on pbp's. Have fun!

I just found this thread today and this idea sounds pretty great.

If you need anybody else, let me know, I'm game. I'm thinking a rogue who's a wannabee ninja, or a magical girl cleric.

Rokku...You're first alternate...Either concept is good.

Rokku. Just had a player drop the game. You're in if you still want to play.

Shiny, I'll get on making a character.

I have been reading the OOC thread, and it seems this campaign will be ridiculous. Ridiculous and awesome! Please put me down as a standby. The ideas have been tremendous so far.

I was thinking of an older "child star." Raised on the stage at the local theatre, daughter of a famed performer, gaining country wide fame herself, but as she has gotten older, not so much. She will be a charisma based character, bard or sorceror, probably, who will be awesomely annoying to deal with, as she still expects the trappings of fame, yet she lacks the common sense to realize how out of whack her expectations are.

Paging Brass Pigeon! Paging Brass Pigeon! Last call for Brass Pigeon!

Gerald you're in the on deck circle if you're still interested.

Scranford, thanks for the offer, but right now I have to pass. I got in another game, and don't want to shortchange any of the other. If someone is interested in the idea, though, please use it.

Good luck to the game. It still sounds awesome....
