Oh, yeah. FFG is doing good work, although I think it's building off of work that's already been done. Generally speaking, I liked their d20 stuff--even the products they were "phoning in" had *some* good stuff in it.

Well, they had Dragonstar and the Legends & Lore stuff which I liked, but I agree with you. But as for Dark Heresy, I was focusing more on the presentation artwork rather than actual content. When you pick up one of their books at B&N or Borders, it feels gritty and dirty. It feels like Pitch Black + Event Horizon.

As someone who's playing in a game of Dark Heresy, you're right. It's a good game, and the books are generally well-made and feel sturdy enough to bludgeon a man with. (Which is a good thing, because if you mug someone you might get enough money to pay for it. Quality ain't cheap, I'll tell you that much.)

When you have the chance, have your mom take you to a Barnes and Noble or a Borders in your area if you have them and take a skim.

I should also say that Dark Heresy has an Empire (Star Wars) / Crusaders (historical) feel about it, too. Or more appropriately, Hellknights in Space.

I only have the core and inquisitors guide. They ARE expensive, but I picked them up on Thanksgiving weekend when I had a 40% coupon on top of my 20% B&N membership. I love its imagery. When another discount cycle and a stable income comes in, you bet I'll pick up more of 'em. Playing the system may be a bit tougher, which is why I'd LOVE to see a Pathfinderization of its system.

OOOOHHH! If I wasn't on such a blasted Blu-Ray kick right now, I'd snap it up!

Sorry about the rough day, CH.

I ran a small campaign based on that series' premise. It was a lot of fun.

God I love the show. I'm glad I have the whole series on DVD.

That doesn't seem that likely. Ignoring the fact that D&D's magic doesn't really mesh well with psykers, it just seems wrong to play something in Warhammer 40k in a system where combat won't end after a few rounds with one side bleeding out and the other side probably needed a medicae badly.

(Besides, the system itself isn't that complex. Finding a game, that's the tough bit.)

CATS WIN! post.

Now, dinner time.

Explain to me a bit about psykers. I thought it was a spin on psionics, but it's awhile since I've looked at the books. But you're right; finding a game IS the tough bit.

Wow! I hope that gets resolved. It sounds nasty to me, but I guess it's not that bad from what you've said.

Well, I should have said "I made a mistake on a $60,000 transaction"; it wasn't actually a mistake that COST $60,000 or anything. And the b$%$@y emails were unrelated.

Mainly because you can use them all day if you feel like risking Perils of The Warp. It's really closer to Shadowrun's magic system than anything.

OK. That makes a lot more sense. When I read that, I thought your company was awfully tolerant of mistakes. :)

I didn't feel slighted (I put the smiley in to try to indicate that). It's easy to miss stuff on this thread. :)

I did have a great day. :)

We went to the fondue place. The last time we were there the food was okay, but nothing special, but this time we ordered a la carte instead of getting the special and it was wonderful. Really, really good food. And white chocolate amaretto fondue for dessert which was to die for good. :)

Good night. I've been sleeping like crap that past couple of days, and it's catching up to me.

See y'all tomorrow.

Never played Shadowrun and I guess I'm going to have to do some reading to understand better (don't know the Perils of the Warp either). Can you tell I haven't read much past the cover at the moment? :P

Well, I'm gonna go watch some horribly silly movie now. Something funny and entertaining with absolutely no redeeming cultural value. So, you know, a romantic comedy most likely. :)

I highly reccomend Kate & Leopold. ;)

And on that note, I to will be departing for the evening. A guy has to get his beauty sleep... I figure about the next decade and a half should do it in my case. :P

Why is it people fight by using issues of the past, not the present?

But it doesn't help or even further the issue just bogs it down with useless information that doesn't have anything to do with the current issue.

What tactics do you take when confronted with these issues?

responce:

If it is a theological argument then that is a proper response. If it is a scientific one it is not.

I have known people to use both each way.

I was thinking in this case more along the lines of "we did this because four years ago you did that."

Leave it to our resident philosopher to come up with a great answer. :)

Liberty's Edge

In fifty years, saying all this interweb crap exists somehow, is anybody going to read through it all, and say "HEY! CRIMSON JESTER TOTALLY PWNED HEATHANSSON IN 2010 ABOUT FISCAL POLICY! WHAT A CLOWN!"
No, they're not. They're going to plug into their vee ree body suits and go to the pleasure palace of the Green Orion women.
