I don't have access to the 3.5 DMG, but I wanted to know the city type, by population size:
Thorp, Hamlet, small city, large city, etc.
In the PFcore rulebook it lists the amount of magic items available by community size, but not the populations therein.
Any comments/links will be appreciated...Thanks!

village 401–900
small town 901–2,000
large town 2,001–5,000
small city 5,001–12,000
large city 12,001–25,000
metropolis 25,001 or more

Looks like you have what you need, but depending on what you're doing, you might also be interested in the Town Generator at Myth-Weavers, which will auto-generate a town using the DMG guidelines and its population (complete with NPC stats, although sometimes those are less useful, depending on the output) for you:
