what you want is the "earthbreaker" from just about any of the AP player's guides... most of them are free to download too.
two handed 2d6 20/x3
Just what I was going to say.
Earthbreaker is great weapon. Recently, my party was attacked by thieving 5-year-olds in Korvosa. Friend Gallatin and I defended ourselves, he with Earthbreaker, me with greataxe. Both of us had what you call "critical hits". Was prepubescent blood and grey matter all over the alleyways. Was beautiful.

Around the time 3rd Edition came out, we were all poring over the rulebooks, and one of my friends asked, "A 'maul'? What's a maul?"
I held my hands about three feet apart, and then five feet apart and said, "If you've seen one mace, you've seen a maul."
I'd been waiting, literally, a decade to use that joke. Timing is everything.

How would a 2 handed giant hammer be in stats to you guys? And how would a "bastard" hammer be?
In 3.5, Complete Warrior, a maul had the following stats: 1d10/x3, 20 lb and could be used in one hand using Exotic Weapon Proficiency or one-handed as a martial weapon. The cost was 15 gp.
So, I guess there you have both your weapons in one package.

Mauls are included in the new gear presented in Paths of Power from 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming.
We wrote it up as Simple, 2-Handed, 2d6, x3, B, 20 lbs, +2 on attempts to sunder vs shields.
We have a few other bludgeoning weapons there, as well, and more coming up in Luven Lightfinger's Gear & Treasure.
Wow...that's comparable to a greatsword, and it gives a neat little situational bonus...on a simple weapon? What's the price on that sucker?

And it's better than the Greatclub too...

We're basing the maul on the sledgehammer carried by the archers of Henry V of England - they used them to pound in stakes and tentpegs and split logs, other various uses in the field, but were also a handy weapon against dismounted or stalled cavalry. Mauls are a simple weapon because they're a common tool able to be used effectively by people only trained in a few weapons - ie not a fighter or dedicated armsman.

For a martial, 2handed hammer, I would mimic how they handled the warhammer and match it to the axe. I never really liked this, but it works. So, 1d12 and x3 critical.
Nah, I think even similar weapons should have different stats. ALthough the type of damage is different already, I think I would go with the 2d6 x3, it seems like the comom evolution from the warhammer.

There are a *bunch* of new weapons coming in Adventurer's Armory. I don't think I statted it, but I would be surprised if there weren't a maul in there.

Ooh, you guys absolutely ROCK! :)

PF lacks the love for bludgeoning weapons, shame on you! ;)
Note: James Jacobs replied to a similar thread I started some time ago and confirmed the following:
The earthbreaker is very much the maul, but with a fancier name. We chose to call it an earthbreaker to give it a Pathfinder spin.
