It depends are you going to throw blood at me when I skewer/pulverize people, or am I responsible for generating my own arterial spray? Ya know for the confirmed crits.
I would imagine that there would be all sorts of settings if you could generate enough computer power to simulate reality at a 1:1 ratio. A more cartoony reality version for the squeamish, and the full-bore Logue for those of us who want it spooky.

Assuming we keep our discreet individualities after the Singularity, I invite you to my real-time D&D world based on Planescape (full sensory immersion, natch)I'm sure I don't speak only for myself on these boards when I say... FRICKIN AWESOME! To full sensory immersion roleplaying.
Edit: As long as they figure out some "elegant" mechanic to make a blow with an axe not feel like you really got hit with an axe, because that would get old fast.
For you and many others I'm sure, but for me myself I'd love the experience. Granted with that level we'd just rip the rules out and roleplay literally, but for those of us major combat buffs, it would be awesome!
(And as a disclaimer, I actually regularly spar with friends of mine using blunt and rounded-edged training tools, yeah it sucks but it's fun too :D)

That is all :)

While we're banning terms, I'd like to add "Dead Tree" to the list. That and the use of elegant or robust when talking about game mechanics.
Why? Both have been properly used when I read it.

I like the symmetry of the philosophy. And you can really see the informational noosphere taking form all around us. It's quite fascinating really. Did you catch the link about sixth sense technology MIT is working on? That is quite interesting as well.
No, I have not. Bookmarked it to follow up and read later. Thanks, Patrick!
