Is anyone still playing EVE Online?

Sharoth wrote:

Sort of...

My school and real lives have caught up to me for the time being, so I'm training my long-neglected missile skills to V and only logging on to change them. I will probably become far more active around Dominion's launch.

Remind me of your capsuleer alias?

Been a while - keep skill bumping, play some times as the mood strikes. Even have a pair of kamikaze-alts to ... "deal" ... with 'problem children' as it were. ^_^

What happened to Seven Swords, Ltd? Still going?

Ed Healy wrote:

I don't think Seven Swords is active, but some players still are. We do hang out in the Paizo channel when we are online though.

I'm thinking about jumping back into EVE, but would rather have a crew to fly around with. Too bad the corp is dead.

Even if the corp is dead, a lot has changed in EVE. Starting out with a new character, there are a plethora of tutorials, a great story arc, double learning speed for the first 1.5 million skill points...A lot has changed.

And then there is wormholes...:D

You can do the tutorials over and over again too, which is a great way to build up a stock of (rather mediocre) frigates and a few industrial ships / haulers as well. There are two story arcs now - the first one is the easiest, while the new one is much more difficult.

As Lilith points out, a great deal has changed in EVE, especially if you've been gone 2 or more years.

I did the 5 day reactivation thing.

I will probably lose interest after I finish it though.

Drop in the PAIZO chat channel while you're around then! (I'm East Coast time, most of the other Paizonians seem to be West Coast time.)

I may reactive my account in a few months after I get my (finacial) crap together.

Question - Is it worth getting the game CD that Best Buy might sell?

Yes - free month, free Interbus Mk 2 shuttle, and a much easier installation process than downloading the *entire* game. There's a few other odd goodies I believe.

You missed out on the free wormhole-exploration shuttle (1 per account, instead of the previous snowball launcher and stack o' snow-balls per character). Seems some people were ganking the new solar-sail ships just because they were newfangled and squishy.

No problemo - any luck on the HackMaster Player Coupons ? I haven't gone spelunking deep enough to find mine yet.

Nope to the Players Coupons. I have the GM's, but not the poor players. ~grins~

A note on the retail pack - the goodies are for NEW accounts only. You don't get the goodies if you have an existing account.

O.o D'oh! I had forgotten that - at the time of purchase, a buddy was interested in the game, so I used the boxed set game time code for him (who gave me the free goodies in trade).

Although if you REALLY wanted them bad enough, you could transfer your old account's character over to the new account perhaps? I am unsure on this one...

CCP is recommending that your new account trade to your old account if you want the goodies.

I just started a new account, so I'm building a new character from scratch... again.

Sent you a bit o' cash to get you started. Remember that EVEMon is your friend.

Welcome (back) to EVE, Vitme. Fly safe ... or explode next to the suminabiatch that pops you! ^_^

Still learning the whole 'scanning' thing.

Liberty's Edge

I just got a Golem flying, finally. (Named it Paizo). I'll be skilling up for two months to see just how well it can do missions. No plans after that.

Golem can do very well, 'specially with the 4 launchers grouped (cutting down on lost firepower from enemy defenders). There are some scary Golem fittings out there ... saw one that used Caldari Navy as MOST of the fittings ... O.o

My Golem will be undergoing various upgrades as I grind more ISK from missions and skill up a bit. Caldari Navy Ballistic Controls are certainly on my list, along with faction target painters, tech II launchers and torps, and 1000-series implants.

I'm still finishing up the initial tutorials, so everything you guys are saying is 20 AU over my head. :)

You will learn, grasshopper - er, capsuleer.

Lilith wrote:

:) There is a class of "tech 2" battleships that are basically geared towards PvE (mission runners and belt-rat hunters) combat called 'Marauders'. There are four races - each has a Marauder-class battleship built upon that race's tier 2 hull. The Golem is the Caldari Marauder.

As you earn LP (Loyalty Points) by doing missions for a specific NPC corporation, you are able to purchase various items: cybernetic implants, hardwiring implants, ammunition issued by that faction's navy, ships issued by that faction's navy, various modules and blueprint copies to build modules for that faction's navy and some other odds and ends (such as starbase charters).

Be aware that as you kill certain NPCs of the various factions you acquire positive standing with those who do not like those you whack - and negative standing with those who like those you whack. This is especially noteworthy for those who are part of the Empire fleets: Minmatar, Caldari, Gallente, Amarr, Khanid, among others.

Hey Ed Healy:

Did you let your subscription expire? Brau Haus is wondering - seems that they can tell your skill queue is empty...

No, I switched to a different PC. I can't remember the BH public channel, or I'd drop in. It's some sort of "Pub," I know that. Remind me?

Little Tim's Pub I think?

Don't forget Paizo as its own chat channel. From there I should be able to invite you into the BH public channel.

I'm always on the Paizo channel, but I'm often the only one (since I'm usually on at 4 AM PST)... :)

Well ... 7 AM is a tad early for most stateside EVE players. :)

I would have been playing far more for awhile now, but the school's internet went down the crapper. Whenever that gets fixed I will be on more.

Currently I've been training all of the subsystems skills to V for a Tengu.

The Strategic Cruisers seem to be very popular, and of course their costs are steadily going down to a far more reasonable purchase point.

Glad you have some level V skills queued up - when you're offline for an extended period, that helps to keep your character busy.

Remember though, from what I hear, if you're in the hull when it pops, you lose one random subsystem skill level from V to IV...

eh, it's 4-5 days training time, I have enough SP at this point specialized in combat that I can afford to lose a week or so here and there... I can fly at near max skill nearly every Amarrian ship, so growth now is just branching out into other ships.

Awesome! Stop by BENGALCHAT, as well as PAIZO chat channels. Tyrannis is due out in a week - prepare to strip mine planets! I'm hoping for inhabited ones personally ... :)

I so want to get back into this, but I just do not have the time. ~sighs~

Missus Turin & I don't play often, but we crack the whip on our characters' training regimes.

My main (Clovis) is over 100M Skill Points now! \o/

I've just had a brilliant idea for a new take on nullsec corporation management...

I have a proposition. We create an entirely neutral corporation. I'm thinking of calling it the "Geneva Syndicate." Our objective will be to carve out a slice of nullsec, preferably one close to empire space, and then allow it to be roamed freely by others, even if they aren't in our corp.

Basically, we will act like our very own CONCORD. Anyone caught gate camping or griefing or what-have-you in our space will be hunted down and obliterated. People who just come in to do some mining or rat hunting are more than welcome to hang around. If they start causing trouble or look like they're trying to undermine us in some way, we tell them to shape up or ship out. Further acts against the spirit of peace will be met with overwhelming violence.

I think it would be cool to create "safe" nullsec for younger characters to come experience a part of the game they might otherwise be missing out on.

The biggest threat, of course, is neighboring corps who may not be so friendly and decide that they want to rub out our little "Switzerland in Space" early on. Once we get some momentum (and a reputation amongst the "little people"), I think that we could potentially have a lot of allies. We're gonna need quite a few warm bodies to pull this off, though, so any of you who have friends that might be interested in joining this venture... please let them know!

I am fascinated by this idea; we in the collective must know more.

Yeah... I really want to do this. I'll talk to the few people in the private corp I am part of and see if they're down with it... then I'll begin some initial recruitment and try to get a website up for it. :)

Tyrannis should be going live in about 45 minutes.

Yeah, it got a little bit delayed, but it did roll out and all is well.

I did notice something amusing, though, running some L4s earlier... they revamped the model for the Caldari Scorpion battleship, but they didn't update the little thumbnail picture (the one that shows up across the top when you target stuff). It still shows the old model there. Tee-hee!

^_^ Haven't run into any of those yet, as the "level 3 = phat status increase" is my current "thing" while waiting to be able to play with planets.

Scorp is now a really spiffy looking ship. Good catch on the thumbnail shot being out-of-date! :)

Hehe, that's what the Providence Holders tried to do up north, but it didn't work out too well. CVA bit off more than they could chew, and their tactical leadership was definitely "meh". The Problem with NRDS, is that you need to solidify your power as much as any other power bloc and you can't let those coming through your territory muscle you out.

By the way, is there still a Paizo channel in game?
