This may end up being more than a bit of a controversial thread.
I was reading through the campaign setting about Nex and Geb. Their wars and such. And in general when they have been mentioned in threads, Nex is usually seen in a better light than Geb from what I have seen.
My question is: How is necromancy and animation of the dead worse than Nex's fleshforges of Ecanus and the creatures they created in them (possibly from already living things)?
That sort of crafting is an example of the evil of the Drow after all.

I think both Nex and Geb were (are?) the epitome of megalomania, ambition, and corruption by power. Their arcane excesses, whether in the schools of necromancy or transmutation, literally changed the face of history and killed millions in their centuries of war for dominance. I think history has looked more kindly upon Nex because he simply vanished instead of hanging around as a ghost and stealing a good god from her crypt to be raised as his lich queen. I'm not saying Nex wouldn't have done something equally abhorrent, but he's been off in his demiplane of no escape for quite a while now, so it's easier to forget his crimes.

Both Nex and Geb were invented by Erik, so he can speak more to this... but I believe the general idea was that neither of these nations is supposed to be a "Good Guy." The fact that they're pretty much focused on warring against each other and don't bother their neighbors is the main reason that the two nations aren't more vilified by others in the Inner Sea region.

Also, they are WAY older than a lot of the modern nations of Golarion, and Nex has been gone a long time. Geb's still there, but he is not the active menace he once was, and without his eternal enemy his gaze has been cast inward of late.
There will be much, much, much more to come on Nex. I have basically put a development marker on that country, and plan to personally develop a great deal of content about it over several projects in the future.

Can we get a Chronicle detailing Nex, Geb, and the Mana Waste between them? Just the history alone of that region could fill a 64 pager, I imagine, let alone a thorough gazetteer of each.

Hey Erik & James. Nex & Geb have already become my favorite countries of Golarion, and I look forward to seeing more about them in future supplements. Kudos to you, Erik, for creating something that hooked my interest in about two paragraphs. My home Pathfinder campaign is actually set in the Nex/Geb/Alkenstar/Mana Waste region due to overwhelming player interest (although I imagine my vision of the nations will be a bit different than the finished product).
My question is, did Erik invent Alkenstar & the Mana Wastes too? I seem to recall James going on record in a different thread stating that there were no plans to further develop Alkenstar at this time. I'm a little sad about that, but I understand you have a lot of other areas to focus on. Still, if Erik put a development marker on Nex, does that mean there will be more info on Alkenstar & the Mana Wastes coming after all?

Alkenstar was Mike McArtor's baby from start to finish. I'm not sure how much development we plan to give it going forward, because frankly none of us really like it all that much or are jumping up and down with excitement over ideas for the place. And since Mike's no longer at the company...
The Mana Wastes in concept was my idea. I gave Josh Frost the run-down of Nex and Geb one afternoon a while back, and he came up with the name Mana Wastes.
Any book on Nex and Geb would include the Mana Wastes, and probably some references to Alkenstar.
It'll be a while before we do a Pathfinder Chronicles book centered on this region, though.
I have several ideas for projects in this region, but I haven't been thinking seriously about a Chronicles book yet. I'm thinking mostly of adventure support.
And fiction.

Adventures would be awesome. Thanks for the info!

Fleshforging allows the grafting of [Silver Tongues], a boon to any nation's Public Relations group.

I imagine so does a subtle reminder that one could just as easily end up in the 'vats'.

Awesome! They are two of my favorite nations as well, and I've already written up bunches of stuff on them (local weapons, both magical and mundane, undead variations, etc.).
Can't wait to see some official stuff on them!

I might as well ask this here: where exactly is there any information on "fleshforging" in Pathfinder? It sounds like one of the more creepily interesting parts of Nex and Geb, and I'd love to know more about it.
Like, just what can you do with it? Make monsters? Give people somewhat squicky traits or feats? Change someone's appearance or transform them into another form? Depending on what they are, I can see so many ways they could be used in stories and adventures.

There's a section on Drow fleshwarping in Endless Night. Examples of what it can do include two monsters from the issue's bestiary (a fleshwarped troglodyte and (if my memory serves me correctly) elf (the latter of which is twisted to the point where it's nothing like an elf anymore). It also includes several fleshwarping 'toxins' that alter the body of individuals, giving them things like antennae or a carapace for their duration. I'd imagine that such body parts could also be implanted permenantly as grafts, though there aren't any rules in the article for doing that.
I also seem to remember hearing somewhere that Nex's flesh vats managed to churn out Sand Krakens at one point, though I can't recall where.

Have you written it up and posted it anywhere? Maybe Erik (or whomever) at Paizo can use some of your stuff and credit you for it?
