Animal Companion Wolf Trip

Rules Questions

How does the animal companion Wolf Trip work? Does it provoke an AoO? When tripped do the wolf and target occupy the same square? Does the wolf use his attack roll for his CMB check, or does he make a separate roll? Can an opponent trip the wolf if he fails?

Assuming it works as it always has, this is how it works:

You hit, then you deal damage and gain a free trip attempt.
If your wolf new roll of 1d20+CMB >= CMD of the hit foe, he is tripped.
He then falls prone in his square.
He can't trip the wolf if the wolf fails to trip him.
