Quick question.
On page 567 of the Pathfinder RPG core rulebook it says "Incorporeal creatures take half damage (50%) from magic weapons, spells, spell-like effects, and supernatural effects" - clear enough.
Then on page 3 of the Bestiary Preview II pdf(I think) it says something about incorporeal creatures only taking damage from magic weapons, spells, spell-like effects and supernatural abilities 50% of the time (as in miss chance).
This came up at a game last night and I wondering if anyone knows which description is correct.

The Pathfinder RPG rules are correct; there's no miss chance for incorporeal creatures when you're using damaging attacks. They just take half damage. It's only effects that don't actually cause damage that have that 50% miss chance.

Actually it confuse me!
I don't have the Pathfinder rulebook here at work so lets try to make it clear.Unless you have ghost touch weapon or are yourself incorporeal here's what happend:
A) Physical range and melee non-magical attack got 50% chance to miss.
B) Magical weapon, spells and supernatural abilities always hit but deals only 50% damage.
Is it how it work really?

Not quite. Normal physical attacks have no effect at all. Magical attacks (including those from magic weapons) deal 50% damage.

I really, really like this change... not only does it speed up combat against incorporeal creatures a lot, but it also removes some of the "swinginess" (I've seen fighters waste full attacks in 3E when they repeatedly rolled badly on the miss chance) in the system! :)
