Spell Resistance Armor - far too cheap

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I have a little problem with the price of SR items.

Why is SR as an armor ability so cheap? SR 19 normally costs 70000gp, on an armor it is a +5 equivalent, so it costs 25000gp.

Can someone enlighten me?

Because you're spending 5 of your 10 pre-epic enchantment slots on one ability. For that price you could have five +1 enhancements, or +5 to AC and a +1 enhancement on your armor. It's balanced by the tradeoff.

That is funny. I was thinking it is far to much.

SR on armor is mostly a joke since the best you can have is SR 19. Now if you have sacrificed everything else you get a +1 SR 19 armor which is equivalent of +6. (36000) Now if you want any serious armor protection it gets worse a +5 SR 19 Breast plate would be 100,000. For that price it should be suitable for going up against demon princes.

If you have +6 equipment it is safe to assume that level 17 casters are going to be fairly common opponents. They will beet that massive SR on a 2. So you have given up 5 points of SR for a 5% chance to duck a spell.

Since you always have that 5% chance why bother with an SR greater than 13? Everyone has to try for that 5% spell fumble anyway.

For a +5 armor bonus I would like to see a 23 or 24. SR 19 should be a +4 mod.

That makes sense. Thanks a lot.
