Sir Manfred looks around for a lance, flagstaff or long pole of some kind, as well as either an Andoran flag or a white sheet or rag.

"There we go, Golden Boy takes the glory while we get $#!% done."

Liandra mutters quietly

At the temple to your left, a metal staff has broken off from the hand of the bird-drop covered statue of a robed figure. The staff lies at the statues feet waiting to be repaired. It is large enough to use as a flagstaff.

Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

Sir Manfred sweeps up his new flagstaff.
"Very good. Now I need a white flag. Or towel; or bedsheet."
"Off white even."
Is there anything like that around?

One of the Furbutton twins is wearing a white top.

Let's just assume Manfred has a white scarf.

Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

Sir Manfred glances at the Furbutton Twins, considering. Then he shakes his head and attaches an white article of his own clothing to the flagstaff.
"Alright, let's go meet with the army. Who's with me?"
He marches out the gate (if he isn't already outside.)

The villagers look around nervously.

"I'd better go get the stables ready," says a stableboy. "You know, for their horses."

"I'd better go get the beds ready," says a tavern keeper. "You know, for their commanders."

"I'd better go get ready," says a Furbutton twin.

None of the villagers follow Manfred out the gate.

Liandra starts laughing as she makes her way over to Manfred's rapidly dissolving parade.

Knotty looks at Galadar, "this your witness? He's a numpty."

Knotty recognizes the Ben the bartender. He can continue misunderstanding Galadar though. ;-)

Male Halfling Transmuter5

Boo.

Sighing and shaking his head like a wise old veteran, he pats as high as he can on Galadar's arm and laughs, "the one that got away, heh?"

Then he goes back to the gates to see what's happening there.

I ask a question or two, discerning whether the man ever showed up, before ruefully following the halfling. Meanwhile I also keep my eyes peeled for the 'one who got away.'

The man did show up but slipped away with the only other drinker in the tavern a while later.

Male Human Rogue 6

Did the bartender recognize the other drinker?

Galadar wrote:

"Yah. Some merchant who didn't get his cart out before they closed the gates yesterday. Gripin' and drinkin' about not wanting to leave yesterday till they closed the gates and then gripin' and drinkin' about having to stay."

Sir Manfred marches towards the army outside, white flag upraised.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue 6

I rush to catch up with Manfred, though I also keep on eye out for carts leaving the village.

An old elven cleric steps out from the little hut near the birdshit covered statue and, pointing at Manfred, proclaims loudly, "The Paladin rides! His praises sing!!" with extraordinary enthusiasm.

The old soldier from the keep manages to convince the townspeople not to close the gate behind Manfred, Galadar, and anyone who rides with him.

A couple of riders break off from the group on the distant hill and ride quickly towards Manfred. Liandra recognizes one of them as an agent of 'The Hand'. General Dakovya is another.

Reports are requested. Riders move forward and backward relaying orders from the General. The army moves closer to the Keep but moves into the town in small units, each tasked to secure a tower or a road or a wall. With the hour, Piren's Bluff and the Baron's Keep are firmly in the hands of Andoran.

Nodding towards the agent of 'The Hand', the General gruffly speaks to you, "Now, this one tells me that, having secured the keep, we must be prepared to lose it on the will of the people within through one of their beloved 'electoral processes'."

"An election will be held within the week," states the agent matter-of-factly. "The townspeople still are obsessed with outmoded concepts like nobility, however, and would probably elect a prince before a farmer. Know anyone of noble blood willing to retire to this rather uninteresting frontier town?"

What exctly does one do with a masterwork long box?
    Dibs on the gloves.

Sir Manfred will put a claim on

    mwk short sword,
    mwk mace

It's a really ritzy coffin. Either that, or my finger jumped down to an 'x' instead of up to 'w'.

Are any of the weapons or armours small sized? Also what was the amount of xp we started with?

Those who didn't start in another pbp (Manfred and Hru, for example) probably started at 10000 xp. Using the fast-track, this would put all of you at 6th level.

This feels like a conclusion. Were you intending to carry on from here?

    Female Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Urban Ranger 2

    I certainly hope so

Well, it's time to divide up the stuff. Once every item is accounted for and completely understood, the answer will have presented itself.

Since you spelt armour correctly, unlike our American friends, you can exchange any of these items for smaller sized equivalents at the army's base camp. All of them belonged to the Baron, Blacklock, or an Andoren Loyalist taken prisoner.

    Liberty's Edge

    Male Human Rogue 6

I can take either the ring of protection or the cloak of resistance.

    Male Halfling Transmuter5

Knotty piles up the wands and scrolls, sorting out the arcane from the rest and sighing at the wand of magic missiles.

"I'll take these. Manfred you keep the potion I gave you. Any Lord needs a good potion of enlarge person for the right occasion."

Knotty and me will drop out after this. It has been alot of fun to get this chance and I have enjoyed playing with most of the PC's i.e. Galadar, Eria, Manfred, Hru and Liandra.

    Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

If no one else wants them, Sir Manfred will claim the Masterwork cold iron Shortsword (instead of the masterwork shortsword) and the masterwork dagger.

By the way, what does the map show?

    Sir Manfred VonFalkenburg wrote:

The map shows an area of coastline. You'll need to make a Knowledge (geography) or a Profession (sailor) check to recognize it.

    The map is conveniently labelled:
    OOO --- /OOO --- /OOOO --- //OOO --- / --- ///OOO --- O

    OOO --- /// --- ////OO --- /

A circle on the map has a note inked in on it reading:
    ///O --- /// --- //OO --- //// --- ////O --- ///OOO ' --- ///OOOO

    / --- ////OOOO --- ///O --- / --- OOOO --- /OOOO --- //// --- /OOOO --- /// --- //OOOO

Thanks for playing. As a character, Knotty can feel free to retire to the keep. (I don't think he'll be running for election but I'm sure he could find some work.)

    Cheers!

    Female Halfling Cleric 5

Eria will take the cloak of resistance + 2, The ring of protection + 1 and any of the scrolls that are divine if no one else wants them.

    Eria wrote:

Galadar will take one of those. Who wants to choose which one?

I'd rather have the cloak, but it doesn't really matter too much.

Fair enough you have the cloak then Is it possible to sell off the items none of us want and split the proceeds?

    The Exchange

Just to be clear it's no reflection on anyone else when I want to drop out. It's more that I don't think I'd enjoy playing Knotty long term and when my wife returns to work in a few weeks, I'll be left holding two youngsters as a house husband.

Playing PbPs with children in hand can be difficult. You're welcome to bring another character to any future PbP I run. Drop in any time.

    Male Halfling Transmuter5

    Thank you, I appreciate that.

Knotty retires back to his river and halfling village, reminding the General of his promise never to bother the mage again. And he lived .....well let's leave it there.

Regarding the map, Knowledge (geography), Knowledge (linguistics), Profession (sailor), and Profession (spy) checks would be appropriate. Multiple successful checks will get you more clues to cracking the code but I don't think I'll just decode it for you. I'm sure you can crack it with a few hints.

Any other ideas on skill checks appropriate for cracking a code used by the Baron's noble kin?

    Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

Sir Manfred can't make head nor tails of the map.

    Female Halfling Cleric 5

If shown the map Eria can take a shot making some sense of it

    Knowledge Geography

    1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

    Eria wrote:

    Knowledge Geography

    1d20 + 9

Eria recognizes the coastline as a that south of here near the border of Cheliax and Andoran. It's a bit of no man's land in that disputed territory. There are only a few small communities there.

    Female Halfling Cleric 5

Knowledge religion check to see if there is anything of religious significance in that area

    1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

    Or unusual creatures (knowledge nature)

In regards to religion, Eria recalls a reference to Cheliax using undead in its navy in this region.

For unusual creatures, this part of the inner sea is home to some very large and aggressive octopi.

    Female Halfling Cleric 5

"Hmm it's a map of the coastline south of here Nothing much of great importance it being no mans land besides Cheliax having undead navy in the region Some really big octopi but that's about it" Eria wrack's her brain some more "Maybe it was supposed to be a place for the Baron to escape to or go meet Cheliax forces?"
