You continue in such a manner for some time. Basil and Josiah both describe Roots and Remedies as an almost living extension of its proprietor, Laurel. Eventually you are able to make it through the front door.
At the risk of betraying PbP newbitude, are we all in there or are we still individuals in line, and we get in one at a time?

You all squeeze in at once, unless you are opposed to going in with someone else at the same time, or you can listen from outside the shop's door.

what is the BBCode to use different color text?
If you mean this by different colour
Then look down at the bottom of the screen you use for posting there should be a section saying "BBcode tags" you can use right beneath the "Post as" bit.
Press that and it should show up the bit you want to know about, there's also a bit about spoilers too but if you mean entirely different colours then I haven't yet found out about that one.
Oh and I've tried invisible castle but got into difficulty using it which is why I've been using d&d online dice roller and Online dice roller.
Will keep on looking for one more suitable though.

You can take this time to ask any final questions of Laurel, but I will assume that you are headed to the lumber camp shortly and post your travel and arrival there later this afternoon. Regarding travel/food, I will assume that you will use one trail ration/day, or that one of you will make a significant enough survival check to provide food for most/all, though this will slow you down a little. You can cover 24 miles per day on clear surfaces, but most of the forest will be trackless, bringing you down to about 12 miles per day if there are no tracks. As you are mostly racing against time to beat the effects of the Blackscour Taint, I will present travel options when necessary and ask for your input.

I'll purchase a few extra trail rations then; should I cover this in the RP thread or is just sayin', "I wanna buy this" good enough?

Good enough. Just deduct the total and add it to your character sheet.

Basilfield will use his survival skills, and, if everybody is nice to me, and participates in the evening and morning leaf dances, then I can also create food and water....
glances at the Paladin - okay, okay, I am kidding about the leaf dances.... :)

Sorry I didn't get the post up today. Turns out I had a lot of errands to run. I'll post it in the morning.

I have an idea for RP ....
Not sure if you are looking for suggestion and you probably already have some ideas, but I am just tossing things around.... I won't be offended at all if you prefer not to use my idea. I am still kinda new to pbp ..... :)

Speaking of, I have about 0 knowledge of the what/where/who of this adventure, and as a result I have almost nothing tying Stam to plot/setting. (I like that Josric called him a local though!)
If any of y'all have any ideas on that front, shout 'em out, I can use the help.

Otherwise, feel free to roll at home and post the results. It's on you to be honest about them, and if every roll comes out a 20, well, it'd reflect poorly. Just write out the rolls in the following format if you roll physical dice:
Roll type: (number)d(sides) + (modifier) = (roll) + (modifier) = (total).

My apologies! You know that saying about the definition of "assume". My fault for not giving better background. Allow me to expound:
About Falcon's Hollow:
Pathfinder Chronicles[/i]]"The small village of Falcon's Hollow is a wild place. Nestled in the shadow of Droskar's Crag, the people of Falcon's Hollow are hearty and stern. Theirs is a life of hardships, broken only occasionally by a handful of festivals and the infrequent merchant caravan. They face constant adversity from both the wilderness and the wiles of man. Wolves nip at their heels and cutpurses ply at their pockets. It is a testament to their strength that they even manage to survive at all."
The town is owned by a local Lumber Consortium, and is situated on a winding trade route that begins in Almas, the capital of Andoran. The road crosses the Andoshen River at Riverford, passes through the towns of Oregent and Olfden before reaching Falcon's Hollow. From there, it passes on to other towns in the Andoran hinterlands. You might have come in to town most recently via merchant caravan, or you might have lived your whole life here. Feel free to take either option, or make up another reason to be in town.
About the Taint:
The blackscour taint has been afflicting locals for the last week or so, and one elderly villager has already died from his infections. Your particular interest in helping to find a cure will vary according to your character's history. If you grew up in town, either you are simply concerned over the plight of your fellow visitors, or - like Josiah - your family has the taint. If nothing in particular has tied you to the town of Falcon's Hollow, you heard - after a brief time in town - that someone like you might be able to help Laurel, the local herbalist, with her request for aid in finding a cure.

Hey DM!
Okay, so Josiah is turning out less charismatic than I originally imagined. Can I swap the point buy from Charisma 14 to Charisma 10, and put those points in Wisdom, raising it from 12 to 15.
Thanks!
Change under consideration. See below for further thoughts.
I think that Josiah could be fairly effective at getting what he wants done by rubbing people the wrong way or strong-arming them into it. At leveling, you could take a couple of points in intimidate to represent this in game rules.
Let me know what you think, and I'll get back to you.

I'll go with a mixture of the two: Stam calls Falcon's Hollow home, but he commonly escorts merchants and lumber shipments on their way to larger communities.

OOC Question for the group:
Do you have any preference for spells for Basil for the next day?
I am inclined to take healing spells, but I can take an offensive spell such as 'Entangle'
Healing is probably the best option, since you're the only healer in the group at this level. But it's completely up to you, take what you'd enjoy most.

Love the map of the lake area - how did you do it?
We need to figure out my ability to communicate with Burrow.
Now that I've read the Core Rule book a little more closely, I notice that the badger starts off with the Link trait
Link (Ex): A druid can handle [DC=10] his animal companion
as a free action, or push [DC=25] it as a move action, even if she
doesn’t have any ranks in the Handle Animal skill. The
druid gains a +4 circumstance bonus on all wild empathy
checks and Handle Animal checks made regarding an
animal companion.
I am going to post a few questions on the forums to clarify further how handle animal stuff works.
Core rule book says that Burrow has 2 HD to start off with. Would you like to roll his hit points or shall I?

1) Map was made using Open Office's Draw program. Only slightly better than MS Paint in that it allows grids and layers.
2) I'm not much of a rules lawyer, but what are you specifically wondering about re: Handle Animal?
3) Burrow's HP: We'll use the average HP from the MM and multiply by 2 for 12 hp. d20srd.org entry for badgers.

2) I'm not much of a rules lawyer, but what are you specifically wondering about re: Handle Animal?
My apologies, I am not trying to be a rules lawyer. I was just having a hard time understanding how the mechanics work for giving direction to an Animal Companion.
It appears that a Druid's companion starts off with one bonus trick and the Druid has to make a Handle Animal check to see if the animal performs the trick.
For example, I would like to start off with the trick of 'Defend' which has a DC=10 for a trained trick. My check for defend would be Animal Handler rank 1 + Charisma modifier + Link modifier = +1 - 1 + 4 = +4 against a DC10.
My check for any other untrained trick would be a DC25, which essential means no chance of success. Just making sure that I understand how it all works...

I think it will help keep things rolling a bit more smoothly if I roll initiative, then you respond. It is not from a lack of wanting you to roll your own dice, just for ease of posting. I'm not a frequent user of Invisible Castle, but my interpretation of their rolling system is as follows:
Initiative order:
21 Morganna
19 Josric
16.5 Josiah
16.2 Hobgoblin
15 Basil
14 Stam
10 Blue Razorcrow
10 Green Razorcrow
There will be a surprise round first, where Morganna will get to act with the hobgoblin, then Round 1 will commence with regular flow of initiative.

Ok, here's a question, if I want Burrow to follow me, that seems to be a *push* on the animal (page 97) in the book. So, I have a DC25 just to get an animal companion to 'come'. Seems steep. Or would that be, perhaps, issuing a 'come' command in a combat situation, such as we are currently facing?

Don't forget your companion can know up to 7 tricks: Six for having Int 2, plus one for a bonus animal companion trick. I would suggest one of the general purpose "suites" of tricks (see Handle Animal) like Hunting or Combat Training. Training a companion takes 1 week worth of work per trick; tricks taught individually require separate checks, but the suites require only one check.
Not having any tricks really makes your companion a non-combatant. I've always played that companions start knowing their max number of tricks, unless the player specifically wants to reserve some to teach in game, but if there's a rule that contradicts that, I don't know it. And if Jason follows a rule different than mine I also don't know that.
But in specific answer to your question: Yes, if your companion hasn't learned a trick and you try to get them to do it, it's a DC 25 Handle Animal check.
Edit: I see now that you have "six possible, none taught yet" on Burrow's sheet, so the only truly relevant things I said are:
1) Burrow has 7 possible tricks
2) Yes, the DC is 25. Sucks.

Coolness, thanks for your help with these questions!
Also a reminder (in case no one else catches it), pushing your companion is a move action. (Only commanding them to do a trick they know is a free action.)
