Monk Class in the PRD

Rules Questions

I haven't picked up my copy of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rules yet (missed my chance to pre-order due to baby and business travelling), but I was going through the PRD and noticed what I am assuming is a big error.

I noticed the Monk's Flurry of blows progression seems way off. Based on the wording of the rules, the monk basically gets a free walk throug the "two weapon fighting" feat tree instead of the old style (where the penalties are reduced at higher levels). However, in the table, the attack bonus for the flurry is all out of whack, eventually ending with a HIGHER bonus when the monk is in a flurry than when he is not.

I'm assuming this is an error in the PRD and not in the actually manual?

Nope. The Monk has a full BAB for flurrying, so eventually he'll be ahead even with the penalty. He also gets more flurries because of this faster flurrying BAB.

PRD is correct. Monk's regular BAB is the "medium" one, while flurry of blows goes off the "fast" BAB which is, even with the -2 bonus, higher than the "medium" BAD at higher levels.

It's one of the PFRPG changes.

When the monk is flurrying, his base attack bonus is treated as if it were equal to his class level (like a Fighter or Barbarian's).

Taking that into consideration, the numbers should make more sense.

I know this http://www.d20pfsrd.com/Home/classes/monk

is correct. cause it looks the same as my books.

Ooooooooh.

I missed that bit about the Monks BaB being equal to his class level when in a flurry. Interesting. That's pretty badass.

Thanks.

Yeah, that's one of those weird rules I'm houseruling in my games - normally in PRGP monks get full BAB during combat maneuvers and during a flurry...I simplify it by just giving them full BAB instead of having to keep track of two different progressions.
