Rules Clarification: Permanent Ability Boosts

Rules Questions

With how the new ability boosting items goes, after wearing the item for 24 hours the boost to your stats become permanent.

How is this suposed to work? Do you retain the adjusted scores even when the item isn't being worn?

If not...

If taken off, do you need to wear it again to regain the "permanent" benefits?

Basically, it's a way of saying "If you can only meet a feat's ability prerequisite(s) through a boosted ability score, after wearing the item booster for 24 hours, you can go ahead and take the feat, though you lose the benefits of the feat if you take off the item. You do keep the feat, it's just inactive as long as your ability score is below the prerequisite value."

OK... the reason I ask is because using the term permanent is rather misleading. Especially where "word for word" rules lawyers are concerned.

Yeah. I would have interpreted "permanent" as in "forever".

If it becomes a permanent ability boost would spells such as bull's strength, bear's endurance, etc...then stack?

No... because they are both Enhancement bonuses.

Can we get an official ruling on this?

The book says treat this bonuses at temp for the first 24 hours. So with int you wouldn't get bonus spells, skills, or languages until after 24 hours. However they still are an enchantment bonus. The book also says if you remove the item you have to wear it for another 24 hours before the bonus is no longer treated as a temporary bonus.

It is official - bonuses of the same type do not stack. Only unnamed bonuses stack and now in PF even if they're from the same source.

Advntages of it becoming "permanent":
Affects class abilities that reset daily: spells, rage, bardic song, channel energy, ect do not update for temporary bonuses
Can qualify for feats with it
Get skill points for int items

There may be others, but I can't think of nay right now.

How about the first ****ing chapter of your Pathfinder Core Rulebook? You know, where it says explicitly bonuses of the same type don't stack.
