New edition, new tactics!

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Each new version of D&D comes with its own quirks of gameplay. What changes do you see coming with the PFRPG? Post your guesses, and we'll see how right you are!

Mine:

Barbarians emerge as the new Kings of the Flank! The class's superior hit die, speed, and armor class makes it perfect for attempting the new higher-risk tumble check, especially as newly cautious rogues begin to adopt a slower "novocaine" approach that takes advantage of their mastery of the 5' step.

What do you think, sirs?

Paladins - Now with more archery and two weapon fighting, and less lancing and sword & board.

Paladin mounts - Now with less rider.

I disagree on that rogue and full attack thing being new. That's been around since 3.0

I'm not sure about the barbarians 'superior armor class' but high level barbarians are kings of trip:
like this

Also, Archer Paladins are powerful. Smite Evil has no range limit, so they can use Rapid Shot and Manyshot to rain feathered death upon dragons. It wouldn't be that difficult for a 9th level paladin to kill a juvenile red dragon on his own in about 2 rounds.

Two weapon fighters are scary. With dual kukri, they have a great chance of applying critical feats to their enemies, especially bleeding critical and stunning critical. Even if the foes succeed on their saves, they are still staggered for 1d4 rounds.

I predict that Elven Rogues and Wizards start multiplying like tribbles. :)

There'll be probably lots of intimidating half-orc rogues, too.

The number of dwareven fighters, on the other hand, will probably much smaller than in 3.5.

Elven Wizards... Ack. That CL +2 versus caster level is really nice, makes Elven Sorcerers tempting.

Mostly I see folks trying out new classes. Sorcerer is much more appealing, Ranger has a lot more umph. heck we'll probably see a lot more paladin love.
