Is there a character generator out that uses the Pathfinder core rulebook rules instead of the rules from the free beta?
Don't forget RPGXplorer!
They've got datasets you can download from the Paizo store :)
EDIT -- Of course now that I post that, I see they haven't done the update to Pathfinder RPG... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

If you don't mind an Excel spreadsheet character generation tool, this one is very nice.
See this thread.

Uh thanks jreyst for the link but that particular generator doesn't appear to be fully function yet. Any others? Is CharGen updated yet to Core Pathfinder rules instead of the Beta yet?
Sorry Berselius, I downloaded it earlier today and opened it up and looked at it. It certainly looked nice but I did not attempt to use it as I was at work. Sorry!

I've got the Barbarian and Bard class abilities loaded in thus far, and now that I've got a system for working out spell casting thanks to the Bard the others should go faster. To assist (well, not so much considering the answer), I'm not aware of any current free character generator that is final rules and also fully functional. I'm currently estimating another week perhaps to have the class abilities in place, then I'll be turning to feats. Note that other than these two areas, the sheet is indeed fully functional. Now, I know thats quite a chunk of what most folks would want to automate, but it's better than nothing. I'll even make you a deal...tell me what class(es) you're most interested in and I'll add them next if you'll test this sucker out for me!
And I'll be sure to check back here and update if I find a fully functional one that's also free.
Anything going to be made for Mac users?
I do have some Mac users, as well as OpenOffice folks, testing mine out. I have not heard of any true Mac applications as yet.

I second Herolab. I've had a license for a few years, and added the Pathfinder dataset out of curiosity. It's a good program, and will be a solid choice once the dataset is complete, but the Pathfinder files are a little rough around the edges right now. Also, the Herolab DRM is a bit of a pain, requiring you to "activate" each time you reinstall the software. So, if their activation servers go away some day, you won't be able to do any more installs.

I love PCGen. When are those Code Monkey's going to be updating to the final rule set?
We need to feed more bananas into the furnace.
I too like PCGen a lot. It's free, it's Mac, and it works well.

You must install JAVA first for PCGen to be installed and run. You choose the data sets from within PCGen. I'm sure they'll update to the final rules, although it will take some time. They update news and alpha/beta versions frequently, before a stable release of a new version. I've used multiple versions over the years and enjoyed them all. They are good at fixing problems as time goes by, but it takes some learning and patience.

Uh, so PCGen is one option eh? Has it been updated to the core rules yet? How do you install the Data-Sets and how do I know which one I need to install for the Pathfinder Core Rules? Do I just install all of them?
The last I checked, it was still only using the Beta rules (and also allows 3.5 supplements like the APs). This particular app has always been a little to clunky for me to track/use, though I know tons of people love it. As such, my info may be out of date (I also find their site difficult to navigate).

If you have Excel, then all I can request is that you hang in there a little bit longer.
I had created a Character Generator for the Beta, but due to some internal memory errors in the sheet I had to abandon it.
I have created a new one from the ground up, and its working really great, and will have a lot of features that I think people will really like. It will be super easy to use as well. I am now just inputting class data into it, and then feats will be next. Then it will done. Sadly, this all takes a lot of time, so I suspect mid to end of September will be when it will be available.
If you have used Heroforge in the past, then you will recognize the value such a generator can provide. Heroforge was needlessly complex though, and often had you hunting through multiple sheets to try to find all the information you complete. I believe I have made that process very quick and simple now.

Kor, would you be interested in working together and/or sharing work? My work is also inspired by Heroforge, so we're probably on the same general page for development. I've already got all the feats in (including the OGC stuff not in the PFRPG, plus all the traits), and am working on class automation. Workign together, or at least sharing and working on different sections, we can likely cut our work time down considerably. If nothing else, I'd like to see your work for inspiration. I've got a thread for discussion, if you're interested:

To speed up time, I had input all the Beta info into my sheet, prior to the release of the Core Rulebook. I am just updating those beta rules now, so in theory it should go quick. But I found things like the cleric domains to really slow me down, since they were a complete revamp.
I'm always happy to work with my fellow Pathfinders to bolster the community resources, so just e-mail me at: kor (at) orcs (dot) ca (here's hoping that filters out some e-mail spam bots), and I can toss you a copy of my work in progress.
I have looked briefly at your sheet, but haven't torn it apart yet to salvage goodies from it. On the plus side, we are going in two very different directions so we will both have two unique resources :) But certainly, I would like to collaborate with you.

Great! I'll shoot you an email, then. It looks like a wonderful Paizite (Full Bleed) just finished the Domain data entry for me, so I'll share that. I've completed the Barbarian, Bard, Cleric (other than domains, which I can now do today), and Druid. I'll take a look at your work and then perhaps we can focus on separate areas and share the end result to help us both out.
Thanks!

So, has PCGen updated to Pathfinder Core Rules yet?
As of Monday afternoon, the team working on it posted that they felt they were very close. Still some input work to do and a top-to-bottom review for quality control before they make it available for the community to test in more depth. It will be compatible with the 5.16.1 release of PCGen.
If you haven't pulled PCGen down yet to get familiar with it, you might want to, just so you are that must closer to using it when the dataset you seek becomes available. The beta rules are included in it, so you'll have something you can experiment with until the final is complete, which should be shortly.
I would suggest that you join the pcgen Yahoo! group if you want to post questions directly to the folks doing the work or see the updates when they are released. Posting here to get it secondhand might delay you getting the good news. My 2cp.
We'll see if I get the url link right this time: PCGen Y! group homepage

Uh, does anyone know if anybody's Pathfinder Character Generator has added the Cavalier and Summoner classes from the playtest yet?
Yep, I've got them in. Just posting an update tonight actually that provides better automation and display for the cavalier oaths and orders. I'm still in the midst of building out the oracle class ability display, but they core class abilities (HD, BAB, saves, skills, etc.) are all in place and I should have the rest automate in the next few days.
The most current link is always on my profile page, and you can also follow along in my discussion thread.
