How do you apply the bab to CMB / D?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Sorry for the newbie question, but I'm unsure how to add the bab to the CMB and CMD once the bab splits; if a bab is +6/+1, for example, do you end up with a CMB that reads (+6/+1)+Str 0+Size 0= +6/+1 (thereby gaining multiple maneuvers) or do you just add them so CMB = +7?

Your CMB would be 6 plus strength, size and any other bonuses.

And what about those maneuvers that are used in place of an attack, such as Disarm?

Example, +6/+1 BAB during a full attack action. First attack is a regular damage attack, second is devoted to Disarm. If you keep the logic that governed the old 3.5 maneuvers it should use the +1, not +6.

It would be +6/+1

Most people will try to use the Combat Maneuver on the first attack to make sure it gets through.

But what about the CMD? If it was 10+(+6/+1)+Str 3+Dex 3 +size 0, would it equal +22/+17? When would the +17 come into play?

The CMD should be the same all the time. I am saying this because in 3.5 when they were opposed rolls you always used your highest BAB to defend yourself, but the creature attacking you would keep having to resort to a lower BAB while attacking.

The CMB is just a variation so we don't have to learn new rules for every special attack type.

PS: When I posted nobody else had post, but now I am further down the list. These boards are strange.

I think I understand - no matter what, the CMD would be 22, correct? Thanks for the help. :)

Right, the BAB portion of CMD should always be calculated with your full BAB,
though Fighting Defensively and situational bonuses (such as Cover) will effect your CMD round-to-round.
(CMD is basically Touch AC, that also adds your STR and full BAB)
