The "Damn, I can't be at Gen Con this year" thread!

Liberty's Edge

So sad! Hopefully I can be there one day, to experience first hand the madness that is GenCon, and to meet tons of Paizonians, Paizo-Staff and more...

I hear you. I had planned on attending this year. I try to go as often as I can. Last year was a blast. But the realities of working in an industry hugely affected by the recession made me cancel my plans.

There is not much that can compare to walking into the vendor hall with a pocket full of cash and tons of new products you just have to have.

I am hoping that this will make next year all that much better.

Hmmm, yes. Here is a thread for me. :-/

RPG Superstar 2012

I'm hoping the budget will open up next year to be able to attend both PaizoCon and GenCon. However, if I could only attend one con next year, PaizoCon would be it.

Yeah, at least a bit salvation :)

I've missed the last two years, which has been deeply disappointing. Gencon is a blast. The last time I went I turned 30 at the con, which was a good time. Nothing better than passing that milestone doing the things I love. This year, I will simply wait for the Pathfinder books to arrive and pretend I am not going to miss the con.

Dark Archive

I've just spent 20 bucks on lottery tickets, to win enough money to go to Gen Con.

And, preferably, buy a small RPG company.

I DESPERATELY WANT TO GO!!!!!!

Dark Archive

What really sucks is that you really can't know what you're missing until you've gone and experienced it for yourself. I went last year for the first time and had more fun in 4 days than I think I've experienced most of my life. Not getting to go this year after having finally done it once is freaking horrible.

Have you tried donating plasma, then coming back again 15 minutes later wearing a fake moustache?

So.....woozy.....

Silver Crusade

I ain't got time to make it.

I do know someone heading there though. He intended to buy a bunch of copies of Pathfinder Core for our group, but he might not be able to buy as many as he hoped.

Maybe next year... once the gang's all back from overseas. :/

As I've said to others before, I am in fact there in spirit. OOOOOOOOooooooooOOOOOOO.

My friends get to go, but I remain behind. Ah well, at least they promised to pick up a few things for me while they are there.

I really appreciate Vic posting Gen Con updates to the Paizo blog - thanks, Vic!

Went once years and years ago, sadly it will be a fair few years before I can go again unless the location changes.

Yes, that's awesome. I keep hitting the reload button once every 15 minutes... :)

Last year I attended as a Tier 1 PFS DM. It was my first ever Gencon and I was really hoping to go this year as a lower tier so I could get to experience more of the con.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) my boyfriend decided to pick this week to be moving in with me from Texas, so I have to spend my vacation days to go get him. I think he planned it this way -_-

Next year though him, me and our gaming group are gonna do a major road trip! I'm gonna jump in on the cosplay contest next year too as an Eagle Knight.

I would have loved to be there! I've been gaming for 20+ years and I've never been to GENCON :-(

I was seriously tempted to go this year, even checked out prices for hotels and travel, but getting from Ottawa, Ontario to Indianapolis, Indiana is expensive (air) and/or time consumming (car), so I'll have to figure out what to do next year.

Oh well, a la prochaine (until next time)...

Liberty's Edge

I went to my first Gencon last year, where I picked up the Beta from Eric Mona. Yes my first Gencon after gaming since 1975. *shakes head*

Couldnt make it this year, but I hope to next year. It really is the best 4 days in gaming ;)

It's certainly not the same, but for anyone interested I'm blogging the con over here. Thought some of you might enjoy.

I thought someone was looking over my shoulder in the bathroom last night. Leave me alone, Darrin!

And for those of you who prefer Facebook, all the blog posts appear in the notes of the RPGAggression facebook page.

Later!

Thanks, Louis!

Thank you Lou. I visited your blog for the first time, and liked it enough to bookmark it for future visits. :-)

Thanks much! That's cool.

I'm starting to feel glad I passed on a t-shirt I saw at the con. It read, "More People Have Read This T-Shirt Than Your Blog"

If you find you like it and are on facebook, consider fanning the RPGAggression page, maybe? All the blog posts show up in the page's notes, and I use it less for reviews and more like a design blog.

More on Gencon to come in the next few days. Hoping to get some pictures up there too!

Thanks again and glad you enjoyed.
