What level will you start your campaign?

Hey everyone. I've seen lots of the "What will you play" threads pop up (I even started one myself :p) but what level will everyone start playing? Are you a tried and true 1st level DM or player, do you think you'll start higher?

This is the first campaign with new players, one of which has not played since 2nd edition, so we are starting out at 1st level. I've not DM'd in close to 2 years, so this will give us all a chance to get back into playing without killing everyone off.

If I DM, we're starting at level one since we haven't been playing by the beta rules but still on 3.5. My group needs to learn all of the new mechanics and deal with changes in spells giving the rules a fair chance until we start houseruling the crap out of it.

All of our campaigns start at 1st level. Always have, always will.

1st level, although I could see, if th back story is right, starting at 2nd

I'll be running CotCT for my sister and her husband, so 1st level to start their romp through Korvosa. Though I still have to decide how I'm going to approach running the AP for two players.

Have to start at first, otherwise how would you ever get to second?

I love first level adventurers. Some of the best running gags and stories come from those first encounters.

I Always start the characters at first.

Some of the best times are to be had with "low-levelers".

I started at 4th level, mainly because the group already played levels 1-4 with the previous DM just before :)
Normally I start campaigns at level 3, but maybe the next one using Pathfinder will be a 1st level one
