I posted something like this in another thread a while back, but I though it might actually merit its own thread.
Remember in 3.0, there were rules for starting at first level as a multi class? I think it was called apprentice rules or something - the rules essentially let you play a lower powered multiclass character right off the bat at 1st level and then, when you leveled up to 2nd level, you become a true, full power multi class character. That rule was a great option and I never understood why it went away in 3.5.
I would LOVE to see Jason and company come up with an official Pathfinder RPG version of this rule. I had originally suggested it in the Gamemastery Guide thread and it seems like that book is the perfect place for this but maybe there would be an even better place?
Is there any talk within Paizo of adding this cool rule back into the PFRPG? If not ... can there be?
Pretty please?

Oh yeah, I had almost forgotten about those. I've never seen a player use them, but I did use them for some low-level villains. Aw man, now I'm getting all nostalgic.
I don't think they ever updated those rules for 3.5. I don't think they were particularly popular for use and the idea was abandoned for space in the new DMG when it came out.

I'd love to see what Paizo could come up with to solve this.
For my home game, I came up with the following feat...
Wizard's Apprentice [General]
You have studied under an accomplized mage, and have learned some magic aptitute.
Prerequisite: Int 11. 1 rank in Spellcraft, no levels in wizard.
Benefit: You gain the ability to cast 3 0-level wizard spells per day, with an effective caster level of 1.
If you later take a level in Wizard, you lose the ability to cast 3 0-level wizard spells, but gain +1 to their effective caster level in one school of magic.
