Updating Effigy Master

General Discussion (Prerelease)

Aside from fixing the saves and up the hit die to d6, what all would need to be done to update the effigy master to PFRPG, if anything?

I haven't seen the new, if any, construct rules, but has their BAB been increased to match their d10 hit die, or have they been reduced to a d8 hit die to match their BAB?

Also, what exactly would I need to do to fix the saves, would I just do the same pluses to each save as a wizard gets for its first 5 levels?

I'd say the main other thing would be that you wouldn't expend experience to build your Effigy's..

The class was originally pretty thin when it came to abilities since it let you trade a caster level and some feats for the ability to make some nice constructs.

It looks like Pathfinder drops the 'good save' by 1 for Prestige Classes, so if the Effigy Master starts with a +2 Will save (I'm guessing here, since I'm away from books), it would start with a +1 Will save instead.

(Another way to simulate what PF is doing here would be to just use Fractional BAB and Saves from Unearthed Arcana, which, IMO, does it even more fairly, since it also addresses lopsided BAB progression.)

Given the nature of the PrC, I wouldn't feel compelled to make any changes other than the HD d6 and the save progression, as it's already a solid choice.

Exactly how the XP cost issue is being dealt with, I'm not sure (other than it not being carried over to Pathfinder), so I've got no clue on that.
