4E Pantheon Converted For PFRPG

General Discussion (Prerelease)

Okay, so I decided to make the 4E Pantheon usable for Pathfinder. The details on the various deities are found in the 4E Player's Handbook and DMG. I only did things like domains and favored weapons, which do not exist in 4E

Bahamut Lawful Good Justice, Protection, Nobility, Honor Glory, Good, Law, Liberation, Nobility, Protection Longsword

Moradin Lawful Good Creation, Artisans, Miners, Smiths, Family Artifice, Community, Earth, Fire, Good, Law Warhammer

When I got done I found that I only had on CN deity, so I added Pan to the list so every alignment cleric would have at least two choices for their deity.

Random thoughts;

Your adaptated list has dieties with as few as four Domain choices, while others have as many as six (if I'm reading it right!). Pathfinder tends to make all 'true gods' have five, while the demon lords / archdevils / horsemen / celestials who only play god on TV have just four domain options.

I've got my own predjudices on the Domain front (I eschew dieties with two alignment Domains, as I loathe them, and I also avoid most of the non-PHB core domains like community, glory and rune, which, IMO, kinda stink), but I'm sure you've got your own thoughts as to which Domains are awesome and which ones are bupkiss. (Depending on how Pathfinder works out, the War Domain may be in for a tweak, as all Clerics already get proficiency with their diety's Favored Weapon.)

Favored Weapon is another place to take a peek at balance between the Clerics. All Clerics automatically get access to all Simple Weapons, and, in Pathfinder, also their diety's Favored Weapon. This means that a diety that has a Dagger or Light Crossbow or Mace as a Favored Weapon has a bit of a strike against them, while those that grant access to an Exotic Weapon like the Kukri or Whip might have a bit of a leg up (well, not the Whip, obviously. I pity that poor fool.).

If you find that some Domain combinations are a little too awesome (Urgathoa and Nethys, in Golarion, have great Domain options, IMO), pairing that up with a Simple Favored Weapon, or a less-than-thrilling Martial Weapon (Short Sword, Hand Axe, etc) might be one way to 'balance' that out. Vice-versa, if some poor schmuck has Good, Law, Community, Nobility and Artifice as their Domain options, that Cleric might deserve a Longbow or Bastard Sword or something as their Favored Weapon!

Or not. These are just my initial thoughts on making different diety choices feel equally compelling and attractive.

Huh. Transpose two letters and Domain options becomes 'Domain potions.' I've invented a new magic item! Eureka!

This is just a rough draft and 4E doesn't give you a lot to work with with as far as domains and favored weapons go. I am open to any and all suggestions.

Several of the gods in 4e already exist in 3.5. Pelor, Kord, Corellon, Moradin, Bahamut, Tiamat, Asmodeus, Lolth, and Grumush. I would recommend using what already exists for them. Sehanine, I believe is originally from Forgotten Realms along with Corellon. As for the rest I would say look at Deities and Demigods, if you have access, for ideas(St. Cuthbert is a lot like Erathis). None of these are Pathfinder of course but they still use the 3.5 system.

The ones that do exist in 3.5 I did model after their counterparts. Mostly I did this for favored weapons when one did not intuitively lend itself to the concept. However, some of them picked up expanded portfolios and I had to try and take that into account as well. So things like Vecna's favored weapon being a dagger, as well as most of his domains are carry overs from 3.5. In other places where changes had been made to deities, like in the case of Bahaumet and Tiamat, I had to make some intuitive leaps to help them fit the feel of past incarnations, but still fit in the new reality.

From Gary Gygax Potion Miscibility Table in the 1st ed DMG:

A roll of '00' gets

DISCOVERY! The admixture of the two potions has caused a special formula which will cause one of the two potions only to function, but its effects will be permanent upon the imbiber. (Note that some harmful side effects could well result from this…)”

PERMANENT Storm Giant Strength FTW !
