Howdy an' greatin's t' all th' board members!

WANTED, DM and attending Game/Adventure.

A group o' first level characters is seekin' an attending DM and adventure path. Please feel free t' drop yer thoughts, comments, whut have ye in th' thread here in regards t' whut offers fer gamin' ye wish t' put forward.

I'm sure'n th' other players 'll be more'n happy t' tweak 'n fiddle their concepts t' fit whutever it t'is ye, as a Game host, have in mind fer us. ^_^

SO, some further explanation as t' whut this here new post is about.

This fine group o' adventurers wus trekkin' in't some encounters when th' DM,

Araciel

seems t' just have up an' vanished. Now, let me be first in sayin' I do understand how Real Life c'n jump up 'n clobber a folk all unexpected like, an' we group o' gamers wish nothin' but th' very best fer th' person's involved.

Lookin' forward t' any an' all comers!

What Adventure Path were you playing?

Fem Elf Bard 3

Oopsie ^^;

Um, I don't rightly know whut the DM wus running us through.

Return To Delmvar's Spire: Welcome to Cirumcroft!

There's th' linky t' whut we wus just startin'.

Basically we're a bunch o' first level characters lookin' fer advneture! We'd be more'n happy t' change things t' suit any adventure ye'd be thinkin' o' runnin'. Though me personal preferance is kinda 'Vanilla' 3.X, cause that's whut I'm more familiar with rules wise, an' learnin' PbP on top o' learnin' anythin' new would maybe be a mite much t' handle fer me. ^^:

Hope that answers yer question? ^_^

Cheery-O!

Scarab Sages

Male Human Expert 3/Cleric 3

Some other questions (for the other players as well):

What ruleset were the characters created under: 3.0, 3.5 or Beta?

Would you prefer to do one of Paizo's published Adventure Paths or something else?

What style of game do you prefer: Gothic, Gritty, Light, Sandbox, Story-driven, or some other?

I can volunteer to DM but with a couple of caveats, 1) I'm going to be pretty busy until the end of Origins on June 28 and 2) I don't have any particular adventure picked, hence the questions above.

Scarab Sages

Male Human Expert 3/Cleric 3

Also, is there any particular spot in Golarion you would prefer to adventure in if you would rather not do an adventure path.

Fem Elf Bard 3

*Takes deep breath and tries to think rationally so's as to make sense in replyin'. ^_^*

Righty. While I'm no slouch when it come's t' playin'. Th' 'house rules' what me Real Life mates an' such use are probably a far cry from whut folks here'd call 'normal' (Or 'balanced'. :P ) I've got access t' all th' books from 3.0 t' Paizo 3.X. So personally, th' settin' c'n be from whut-ever set ye find t'is easiest t' draw yer inspiration from/ whut suits yer time an' tastes. I've no real personal favourites m'self. :)

Though, o' course, lots o' little character developmental handle-y thingies wouldn't be goin' astray as a thought. (^.~)

T'is playin' in such an 'open' environment like th' interwebz whut's bein' th' thing I'll be gettin' m'head around. I still in't used th' hidden castle dice generator thingy an' little items like that. ^^;

I s'pos t' others'll be along an' add their thoughts t' mine t' help ye along with whut ever ye decide.

Very much wishin' the best of th' worls t' ye an' yours an' agin! Much thanks t' ye fer replyin', showin' an interest an' givin' me post th' time o' yer thoughts! ^_^

hi
just to say...
im keen on carrying on and would happily stay with the same character

if someone does take over as GM then they need to note that we have created our charcters using a stat array and that even though we are first level we have hitpoints as if we were level 2

also sunset perhaps we should move this to the gamer connection trhead?

Rav

Fem Elf Bard 3

O.o Did I go an' put this inna wrong place, then?

*^.^* Whoopsie! Seems it in't only playin' inna PbP I gotta get a handle on! Um, p'raps ye could do th' honors, Galen, some one? I in't sure where I'm s'posed t' be putin' things. ^^;

sorry! i actually dont know how to move a thread!

perhaps you could start a new thread in gamer connection?

I would just leave the thread where it is. If someone official wants to move it, they will.

So far then we seem to have two of you. If there are at least four willing to express interest, I'll DM, though like I said, I won't be willing to start until about the beginning of July.

I'm still brainstorming ideas, nothing solid, but I can pretty easily have something by the first.

m half elf Paladin 2

Thank you Wicht!

and well done sunset for not giving up!

I wasn't in the original line up of the group, but if you need players, I'll be glad to join in.

Just let me know the rules for creating a char.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Did you guys find a GM; I could easily put you in my world; am running 3.5 rules with a couple of homerules to fill in the specifics here and there.

I dont know who Abadar is as a diety; I run the Dieties and Demigods from back in the day with the new tweaks; but basically; my world is divided into all the human mythos from A to Z with all the elf, orc and whatnot pantheons thrown in as well as a couple of my own.

How often are you guys intending to post? ie speed of the game? This would be my second attempt at a pbp game; my current game is still in progress at a few thousand posts; check out my namesake homebrew thread and its attending game discussion thread.

So, if you guys have a gm; great; if you think you would like my game setting; let me know.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

hmm; group doesnt seem to have any gnomes, halflings, or dwarves... is this due to the rules for undersized characters and smaller weapons? in my game they have higher tech than everyone else.

Fem Elf Bard 3

(O.o) Well, if'n that ain't pitched me skittles!

Real Life keeps me away from th' boards fer some days an' we've suddenly developed a pair o' volunteers t' be throwin' characters t' th' fray!

Whut's things comin' to? Duelin' DMs'? (>.<)

I'm hopin' this won't end in weapons at dawn of sumat like?

Any who, throwin' a line t' say HECK YEAH! I'm still interested an' t' Valegrim, if'n ye're wantin' some o' th' wee folk abouts I'm sure there'll be adventure aplenty! ^^

Ya-HOO! ^_^

Cheery-O!

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

'eres a skittle fur ya and a Yahoo to wash it down.

juz sayin; ifn youse need a gm; I can handle it; no biggie; didnt bring my banjo so no duelin likely. No probs ifn youse got another gm.

Fem Elf Bard 3

Okeys!

We've got three folks postin' here as offerin' t' be players an' one who's offerin' t' be th' DM.

Iss'at enough or do we needs t' rope in s'me more?

I've tried everythin' short o' shiftin' localities an' stalkin' folks t' get 'em t' reply t' this here thread so's th' best we c'n hope for iss'at they notice an' offer t' join o' their own accord, hey?

Lets get this party started! ^_^

I'd be happy to join your band of adventurers if you still need someone to fill a spot. Just let me know what rules and what sources can be used. I have core 3.0, 3.5 and Pathfinder Beta. I also have the first four in the Complete series, Draconomicon, and the Expanded Psionics Handbook.

As far as what I'd like to play, any of the AP's would be fine considering that I have DM'ed Age of Worms, and have played in the first part of Savage Tide. Anything that is along the same lines of the AP's would be fine as well. I don't mind elements of most any genre, but don't like to be immersed in any one.

I can generally post once a day if needed.

If ya want me in the party let me know what rules, etc. and I'll start working on a character, or I may have one already, you just never know.

Male Human Technician 17

Still here, still interested in playing nearly everything.

Just give me a shout and I'm getting myself a character.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

K; so somebody help decide or vote or something; do you want me to GM this thing?

If so; post it; I will need all the players to chime in and say here so I can look at your avatar and character sheets and we can make adjustments for my world; from what I have seen here is some stuff to start thinking about as most probable as I run a bit more of a heroic game.

looks like most characters will recieve:
3 points to spend on a one a stat or spread between stats as desired
10 points of freebie background skill points to round out your background plus a couple things I give depending on your culture; more on that later.
one free feat at level one; but cannot be combat oriented; any creation or culture or something; this is to help your roleplay development.

Since I'm not one of the original group members and was just offering to play to bring the player count up to four, I don't know how much my vote should count?

Valegrim, since you have be the only one of the two offering to DM, I would say go ahead and go with it, and I'll be happy to join in.

Like I said in my previous post I don't have a character ready, but can have one soon, I'll see what I can throw together here real quick. Any limitations on what I can use as 3.5 source material? Can we have some background information on your campaign and any other information we may need to know.

Let me know, talk to ya later. Thanks.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Well; basically speaking.

I have four main continents where activity is happening to play on and all of these areas are dominated by various cultural sphere meaning; in the celt area; the celts and their dieties dominate; same from greek; roman; babylonian; sumerian; egyptian; american indian; Indian; Viking, Finnish; Chinese; Japanese; Arthurian and so on and so forth; the demi human dietes are intersprikled thoughout the world wherever their cultures are present.

Each Culture and area has its own adventure threads and many tie back and forth as various cultures are allied or opposed to each other.

so; basically; pretty; much any civilization I know enough about including ones for various books exist in my game.

currently; the main themes are Law vs Chaos and lines are drawn along those lines before, though still important, Good vs Evil

Main Bad Guys; Undead; Reptilians; Chaos hordes of giants; goblins; gnolls and the like; Demons of the Abyssal realms and to many people; elves.

Feel free to read my other game discussion board or game thread to get a feel of some things going on. Once I see each character; I will give background for that area to each player that will fill in a lot of blanks.

Each player really needs to decide what culture they are from or; if you like; roll a d6 twice and give me each roll; do this twice and I can tell you exactly where you where born in the world and who lives nearby; but many people wish to play a specific culture and that is fine too.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

As for number of players; really up to you guys; I am thinking no more than about eight.

As for books; I say no book I dont have and I have most 3.5 books; see my character building section for the few books I specifically dont use; lot of good info over there.

called Valgrymr's homebrew or something close to that; click on my pic and recent posts and I am sure you can find it.

Other things I need from the players.

What kind of game do you want to play? by this I mean; a dungeoncrawl; wilderness adventure - forest, plains; artic; ect; or citycrawl. Really; it is up to you players and what your excited about; I can handle it; really. Been gming for nearly 30 years and there is so much that still hasnt been done.

I just need a concensus from the players about what type of game they want; setting and like that.

it would be nice is peeps where from allied or generally along the same theme; like celt or viking or arthurian or like that; but not really necessary.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

an yes; as one of the so called Lords of the Boards; I have been posting here regular for couple years now so no worries about that

Male Human Technician 17

I'm a newcomer to this party as well, so I hold my vote for now, but I will keep sticking around.

But just out of interest: Do you possess the "Magic of Incarnum"-Book? I'd like to play a Race/Class combo out of that.

Heh, come back from vacation and find another DM swiping my prospective game. :P

I don't mind, actually, but I'll keep an eye on the thread to make sure I'm still not needed.

Ooo, hittin' th' reply button gets ye a free quote-y thingy. ^_^

Geeze, um, I in't fussed a to which of you two wants us lot, really. I don't want th' both of ye backin' out, but then agin I in't sure how t' get one of ye t' proceed. ^^;

T'is a bit of a pickle, an' no mistake. How're we goin' t' resole it? Which of th' two of ye have the most 'open' schedule an' which of ye c'n take a bunch o' lubbers who're only kind o' able t' maybe post once a day/time zone?

Ah well, more t' ponder. Though I must say I do like th' little things ye've hinted at fer character generation, Valegrim. ^_^

I would propose we let the guy with the least number of current PbP win - that seems the best to me. I've got 6 PbPs at the moment (3 running, 3 playing). How many you got Valegrim. If its less than 6 then you need another one more than I do. :)

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

running 1; playing hmm; they keep dying off which is why I started GM ing; playing 2; maybe three but the ones I am playing are fairly slow; my game is decent speed.

oh; and for those who dont know (meaning I got heckled) Lords of the Board are just posters who have been on the site for a while and post quite a bit; nothing formal; you can search forums for "lords of the Board" if you want to :)

You win. I won't begrudge you another game if you want it. :)

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

hehe; cool; really up to the players; I can give as much detail as anyone wants about any specific culture or storyline ad infinitum; just want you guys to all have a good time. I can tailor to the type of adventure you want very easily; can be as silly or serious, dark or light as you like and in just about any setting; underwater even; no worries.

Basically, the world is in shambles do to world wide war; many cultures uprooted and a few heroes are needed just about everywhere to save the day, the year, the multiverse.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

it was Sunset's first post that really attracted me

party has a cleric; pally; bard; rogue; elf; orc; this is a great combination as well as some others to flesh things out.

I will be pretty jazzed with this group when we get things going.

will be checking boards a lot for any questions.

Male Red headed something or other. Electronics Technician 7/Computer Programmer 8/Database Admin 5

I've started working on a character concept and as soon as I get the details done I'll get them online as an alias. The character is a gnome sorcerer by the name of Gloisil.

Looks like Valegrim won the battle of the GM's, so Valegrim, if you could give me some ideas as to where my character could be from that would be great. He walks the line between law and chaos, but tends towards good.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Well; consider that all good gnomes are very lawful; they have the highest tech level in my game as well; the evil gnomes are diametrically opposed at Chaotic Evil.

gnomes typically live in hilly areas rather than mountains.

The gnomes in the Celtic area have been devestated by hordes of chaos; might be good for your ideas as a more than usual bitter gnome which would explain your alignment. Many have taken refuge in the Imperial Capital or taken refuge in the hills some thousand miles from their homeland among the elf kingdoms.

There arent really very many gnomes in the Greek and Roman areas; but the Celts are right north of them; so gnome that the undead dominate the Greco/roman pennensula; shesh i butchered that word.

In the Ancient lands; also called the Land of Ice and Snow where all the Finns and Vikings live; pretty much the same situation; the Finns being better off as they are farther North and you have to go through the vikings to get to them; the Vikings dont really have any villages or cities now as hordes of giants and gnolls have crushed just about everything but cant seem to navigate all the fens and marshes and cold misty weather that the finss live in; they seem to get lost.

Those in Celtic areas; viking; finn; part of China are all at war with various armies lead by a team of four evil champions; two antipaladins; an assassin and a cleric/wizard (epic champions)

Gnomes in India are part of a civil war; all of India is in civil war with about nine factions and at war with the Mongels who are allied to Devils. Gnomes are prized for battle technology

In China; gnomes have sealed up their burrows and have heavily fortified their hills as China is in an uproar with the Heavonly Court out of balance and the Celestial Emperor missing; so plague and demons harrass the populous and all is generally in madness and sickness is everywhere.

There are no Japanese gnomes.

In Eygpt; this is the only peaceful place for gnomes in the world; lot of very strong tribes allied the the Pharoah; A main body of the army lead by the Pharoah (a demigod) has sailed for the Southern continent to engage the replilians and snakes in battle. The Eyptians are allied to the Imperial Court of Wizards, the Greeks; the Romans.

There are other settlements of gnomes around the world in other places; but these are the main body of the gnome populous; they are welcome in any dwarf encampment or hold; stauch allies and many have taken refuge there and are helping the dwarves in their battle against the drow, goblins, choas gnomes and whatnot from the underdark.

On the southern continent; gnomes are beset with halflings; with the oncoming war between the reptilians and anything warm blooded; halflings are heading for the hills; literally and gnomes are the least intimidating semi allies. the battlelines between the cold bloods and the warm bloods is thousands of miles long; armies of elves; dwarves; humans - Celts, Greeks, Eyptians and millions of Ork all battle the snakes.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

the lines are very stratified between law and choas; being one or the other can get you killed; nuetrals arent trusted by anyone; used by everyone. All good gnomes all related/allies to other good gnomes; gnomes do not fight each other ever; kind of like the swiss; happened once; never again; no gnome will side against a group aided by gnomes; this is one of their strongest laws.

Male Human Technician 17
Valegrim wrote:
Sorry; dont have that one; lol; have like 20 books but not everything.

Understandable.

What about Psionics?
I'd like to try them sometimes...

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

There good. I treat them just like spells in game mechanics terms; though every race has about 4% of their population as psion potential; some races have it as a norm. I dont bother with rolling to see if you have them or any of that; play any race you want and it is cool if your one of the race that has psionics.

Other than the races in the book; some cultures in my game have a longer history of psionics so those areas tend to have more psionic gear.
________________

about gear in general, magic or otherwise - most of the world has been at war for about a decade so in most places there is little trade or production of goods so even food can be scarce. The world population of mortals is about half that of what it was ten years back though nobody has really taken a census. Lot of people in their grumblings know lots and lots of entire families that are dead; but strangly; the birth rate has greatly increased....like by magic; lots of talk in corners about this or that conspiracy theory hehe.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

I was thinking we would start in the Celtic area; also known as the Land of the Iron People.

Chances are; the main threat would be Goblinoids; goblins; hobgoblins and trolls. Throw in some ogre, ogrillion, gnoll and various other nasties. These are pretty much the bad guys causing all the headaches for everyone.

recently, in the last eight months; a whole bunch; like hundreds; of wizard came out of god only knows where and seized the captial and killed most of the largest bands of chaos; some guy called Sebastion declared himself Emperor and more or less kills anyone who says otherwise. Strangly; he is an elf; reputed to be quite mad; and has a wierd following of wizards; they all wear masks, magical masks; so their heads all look like bizare things from animals to magical beasts to various demons. Each of these mages have at least a couple tough looking warriors to help them and follow any order they give. Anyway; the captial is several hundred miles from where I would start you guys.

Most of this region is very heavily forested with some hills; hills and plains start off to the west toward the desert peoples and the land of the elves.

Though reports of life getting better near the capital are starting to circulate; most of hte populous has been driven to the sea and among many of the nearby islands; goblins arent much into sailing; at least these guys are not. Nearly a third the population of this region has moved to the holy cities and among the greek settlments far to hte south west for refuge; some went to the Land of World Emperor; the seat of the elf king, to seek shelter thousands of miles to the north west; directly north of the Celt area is a vast ocean

about 10 years back; several vast bands; think millions; of creatures of chaos and evil poured out of the south and spread through the Celt; Roman and Holy Lands to be stopped at the borders of the Elven Kingdom; the Free Cities; and the Holy Cities. For ten years the greates battles anyone has ever heard of has raged through this area as 10's of thousands of paladins and nearly a million screaming dervishes; greek hopilites; Roman warriors battled the forces of choas including many greater demons and the vast hordes of giants, goblinoids, and gnoll.

With the coming of the Emperor with his Orb of Imperial Might; his forces entered the fray and the devestation leveled moutains; litereally; the forces of choas were broken; the Paladins were rejected and commanded to leave the Imperiam and return to their cities or perish (he called them deluded fools) To the elves; he commanded them to kneel before him; to the others; Greeks; Romans; Freemen; he ignored them.

then they all left in a flash of smoke; now thousands of bands of chaos are running all over and people are trying to organize and get a handle on things. Tenuously; people are considering returning to thier homes and villages.

There is a need for some bright shining heroes to inspire and lead.

does this sound interesting or do you want something else?

Male Red headed something or other. Electronics Technician 7/Computer Programmer 8/Database Admin 5

That story sounds good to me. And since I was thinking of having Gloisil be from the Celtic area, that gives him a reason to want to help clean out the chaos from the land.

I'm thinking that the reason that Gloisil is neutral in respect to law or chaos, is that he just prefers to be left to his own devices, but has come to realize after all the destruction that he would be better off if the land was returned to lawfulness.

Male Human Cleric 2

I'm gonna reuse this Avatar then. Will rebuild him for the game, with new backstory and all.

I'm thinking of an Half-Giant Psychic Warrior.

Please tell me how that would fit your world.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

no problems at all; half giants are in several areas. To the south of the Celtic area but before the Romans; is a vast moutain range; a here be dragons type area; in fact; there are many dragons and dragon worshiping cults in that region and a fair number of Cloud, Mountain, Stone, Hill and Fire Giants; most humanoids dont typically go into the upper mountains that the half giants tend to settle. And nobody is really desperate or foolish enough to take an army into the Dragon Kingdoms.

so; various adventure hooks abound.
You could have wanderlust or desire iron for your people and set up trade routes for that or other type goods and manufactured items; especially if your people are at war with the giants

You might invetigate why almost all the giants left about 10 years ago; but now they, and worse; many goblins and gnolls are back and are displacing your tribes; you might be looking for some Celt allies to help drive out all these new intruders.

You might have had a psychic vision about a great being of light in the far north among the Land of Ice and Snow and a great feeling of dread as if end of the world stuff; others in your tribe concur and sought a representative to go warn or speak to the low landers wise ones, usually druids or mages, and find out what they know and warn them of the inpending doom; maybe even go there and find out what the deal is and save the world.

Your tribe might have found an artifact of the ancient times and need someone responsible or knowlegable to come and take it or care for it; thereby needing to come down out of the mountains. Then you need to find a sage or dwarf or gnome or wiseman who might know something about it. This is a pretty good adventure hook that can be combined with any of the others.

these are just some off the top of my head; you can always come up with your own reasons; maybe your tribe owes a long time debt to a dwarf or gnome or elf and to pay it off; your tribe sent you with the debt; the npc has you work with the party to complete some task like clearing and setting up a villiage and clearing the locale area of bad guy. something like that.

There are lots of dungeons in those mountains and you know where a few are and have wanted to explore; elders say best not to go into any alone and suggest you take a member from each race; dwarf; elf; gnome and human with you to go expore.

anything like that or if you have some idea; we can work it in.

Fem Elf Bard 3

^_^ Yay, woot and th' like.

Seems we've got our selves a DM. Agin, thank'e every so much to Wicht fer poppin' in an' offerin' some o' yer time t' throw us some adventurein'. Very much appreciated *bows* in thanks.

Ont' Valgrim's stuff.

It all sounds good, though it might take me a bit o' time t' get my head space wrapped around yer reality. Also, I must admit t' havin' never played with the Psychic rules, ever, in my time as a gamer.

SO, t' yer rules and world an' stuff. Y'see I came a cross an image and thought "Cool!"

Spoiler:
http://jollyjack.deviantart.com/art/Island-Elf-122178689

And then I came across the 'Shingle Runner' feat in "Curse of the Crimson Throne" and thought, "Hey! Maybe I c'n create a Feat outta that t' reflect a Elf whut lives near th' ocean?" AN' so's I give ye this.

Spoiler:
Okay, original feat is detailed in "Curse of the Crimson Throne's players guide" and goes something like this.

Shingle Runner: Grants a +2 bonus to Climb and Jump checks and allows user to take Climb checks even when distracted. If they fall, they reduce the total damage taken from a fall by 1D6

I was thinking of something along these lines.

Wave Rider: Grants a +2 bonus to Swim and 'Dive' checks and allows user to take Swim checks even when distracted. If they fail, they reduce the total damage taken from a (Um, well *scratches head* ^^;) by 1D6

I'd be puttin' yer points fer stats t'ward me Con, yer points fer skills t'wards, well, um, skills. *^^* an' yet bonus startin' feat t'wards takin' that, if'n ye'd allow me t' be havein' it?

So's t' summarize, some where down in th' Greek type islands there are 'Island Elves'. Who are a mite more 'primitive' an' such. My character is off seein' the big wide world an' learning about things.

Thoughts/comments an' th' like? Let me know whut ye all be thinkin'. ^_^

Oh, an' just one more weensy thing?Would foks mind if'n I kind of invited another newbie player int' th' mix? There's space, right?

Cheery-O!

Male Human Technician 17

Going with the Half-Giant then. Your hooks are nice, now I don't know what to come up with by myself...

But, I'm the type of guy that builds the backstory along the numbers. And I need some guidelines there.

IIRC we were to roll two sets of stats and take the best of the two... In Order? Or just arrange as see fit? Or ... I don't know.

Then there where some special rules for Skills and Skill points, ...

Could you summarize the creation rules, or point me to a place where they are summarized?

Thanks.

Male Halfling Rogue / 1

I have a Halfling Rogue who would be interested in joining the group. The stats for this charachter have not had the three points or 10 skill points added yet.

If there is interest in a rogue let me know.

He would probably be of Celt extraction.
