RIP David Carradine

Liberty's Edge

Good night, sweet prince.

No... :(

I got to briefly see him at DragonCon in Atlanta several years ago. I remember him walking through the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, stopping to talk with fans, being very friendly and approachable - and being barefoot the whole time he did so. I just thought that was the coolest thing for some reason... :)

Rest in Peace, sir.

Kung Fu is dead? Damn!

RIP Grasshoper.

This is sad news indeed...

R.I.P

According to the news item, he probably killed himself - which makes it all the more sad.

A lot of the icons of are youth are passing on. Just in the last month, three great Davids (Arneson, Eddings, and Carradine).

"Now, it is time for you to leave..."

I saw this on the news. Bummer man! Yet another great has passed. He and his family have a great legacy. R.I.P.

I don't know which of his movies or shows didn't affect me, growing up. Without question, I looked up to him.

In person, he was a complex man, oft times severe in his convictions and not always friendly. But he had a sterling, important career and with his passing, I'm down to one last living hero.

RIP, friend.

Scarab Sages

Very much sucks!

Yet another of the stars of my youth passes on into the great beyond.

Fare thee well David Carradine, may you find any happiness that eluded you in this life.

Terrible that he's dead, but why would he commit suicide? :(

No idea really. Perhaps old age depressions? This is more common than you would think.

I remember him as a kid and me and all of my friends playing "Kung Fu" on each other - with many bruises and much pain and laughter!
Terrible news and all the more that he possibly committed suicide.

R.I.P. David Carradine...may you finally find peace...

Liberty's Edge

Suicide does not fit the end of such a legend.

Truly a shame.

Just saw the news sad day indeed.

Farewell, Frankenstein, a DEAR friend of mine.

Silver Crusade

Man, I hated to hear about this today. My uncle who grew up on Kung-Fu was hit pretty hard by the news.

Rest in peace, Dave.

I dunno if suicide is the most likely explanation: he wasn't just hanging in a closet, he was hanging naked in the closet. Sounds like he may have pulled a Michael Hutchens (accidental death in the process of autoerotic asphyxiation).

Sucks either way, but it'd be cooler for a 72-year-old bad@ss to go out while pulling the handbrake rather than just throwing in the towel.

I was trying so hard not to go there today... but If that is what happened, there's easier ways, man!

I suppose better to die an explorer than miserable.

I'm thinking Triad-Hit.

From my understanding, this is what happened. Many news sources reported this in the morning but changed their stories to be more vague as the day went on. Evidence.

I didn't see much of his films or shows, but I remember how great he was in Kill Bill, and I'm sad to see him pass, regardless of the manner. I hope his family does well dealing with the ensuing pain.

His personal life seemed a mess, but his work on the screen was always captivating, whether starring in something good or bad. For this I say, "I am grateful."

Farewell Grasshopper. May your rice paper have no tracks.

Todays stories seem to suggests suicide is less likely.
