I picked up the new LXG 1910 title and I must admit, I don't know squat about literary characters from this time period. I vaguely remember a movie about Orlando back in the 90's but beyond that I have no reference point.
I found the 1910 title a difficult and chaotic read. But that maybe be my lack of character knowledge. Can anyone help?
I also saw a 1950's LXG title (something black?) and wondered if it is worth a look.

I've greatly enjoyed all the other LXG graphic novels, but I have one question: where is the gender bending character Orlando from?
Orlando. This seems to be the inspiration, although Moore has extended the history backwards substantially (see the Black dossier mentioned above), incorporating the fact that Orlando was also the name the Spanish used for Roland from the Song of Roland (and one of the inspirations for the D&D Paladin class).

Please note that the Black Dossier is not available outside the US..well officially it isn't but Waterstones are selling it in the UK in very limited numbers
Really? I had no trouble getting mine when it was first released.

According to my local comics store..which can't get it..DC put a ban on it being sold outside the US because they don't have an agreement with the copyright holders for certain characters outside of the US.
Any copy sold outside the US has been obtained illicitly..but as Waterstones are the 800 pound gorilla of the book trade in this country I can't see anyone taking action against them
