Gnome's back baby!

4th Edition

Scarab Sages

Demogorgon and the Gnome.

Gotta love that animated gnome!

Spoiler:
I'm a Barbarian. Rawr!

And?

Sorry but was this just to remind people the 2nd series of their 4th edition d&d was being released just after the MM2?

Okay maybe I'm missing the point here...

I... imagine it was to comment on something the poster found entertaining and was clearly connected to D&D 4th Edition. I can't even remotely think of a reason why you would find it an inappropriate post for this forum, hopeless.

I did like the cartoon. The gnome remains as awesome as ever. And this was probably the most I've ever liked Demogorgon - I know it might be heresy, but I just can't take him seriously. But, perhaps because of that, having him star in this worked perfectly for me!

Yes, it is in fact, a digital comic strip. A cartoon.

Poor Francis... However, what a way to go! How many people do you know that molest a demon prince before getting kicked to infinity?!

Argh! My brain!

I thought it was cute, I may have to play a gnome barbarian now, in whatever edition I play in and just make him as silly as that guy, that'd be great.

Hehehehe! We were talking about having a rabid gnome barbarian running around a while back. I said we need to put one of those orange bike flags on him so we can keep track of him (cuts to scene of a high hedge with a bouncing orange flag as folk on the other side, who's upper torsos you can see, all shout out in pain and drop down as the orange flag bounces along).

I apologise my reaction was that this is more of what they released.. a year or less ago and whilst I did find it amusing that the badger has more airmiles now it still felt like they were failing to show what they could do with 4e.

Ah, okay. Yeah, I don't think the goal of the cartoons is to really be a font of information about 4E so much as to spotlight recent releases - in this case the MM2 and PHB2 - with a heavy helping of humor. And I think I far prefer it as such, then if it tried to be more of an ad/exposition/etc.

The last one failed rather miserably on that account. I don't believe the "crap" episode to be even remotely funny. Some may see it, some may not. I know I was not amused.

Well from now on whenever anyone asks your character a question about what they are going to do in a given situation just say "did you see my axe?" oh man gnome barbarian with a single level dip to druid for a badger AnCo it is (I know a first level AnCo will suck at higher levels, but that'll be half the point that I throw the badger at people, in fact if I play pathfinder I'll take the throw anything feat just so I can throw the badger at people for my first round then follow up with the axe :D I'm definitely making this character. And yes he will wind up saying I'm a monster rawr and I'm a barbarian rawr.

hopefully they'll make even more gnome videos so I can further develop the character.

Yeah, did not care for that one - that was with the Dragon? I don't think any of them have quite matched the genius of the first one, but this most recent one was pretty strong. The gnome is comedy gold - it is hard to not be entertained by anything with him in it. :)

I don't get why people were so upset over that cartoon. I thought it was hilarious. It poked fun at the whole "edition wars" and targeted both sides equally.

Not everyone, on either side of the debate, appreciated their actions being lampooned. Personally I loved it and thought it was hilarious, too.

A couple of weeks ago, we were picking on the group's barbarian (who played a barbarian/bear warrior in Age of Worms) by saying "we should all play barbarians, gnome barbarians. We could all be Bear Warriors and use Ewok minis when we're raging."

So, this was hilarious. "I'm a barbarian. Rawr!"

As a 4E specific note, you could take the 13 Wisdom and Shaman Multiclass feat and summon a "spirit badger" for your spirit companion. You could also multiclass arcane (I'd suggest one of the Sorcerer ones, since they're charisma based, and hence, easier to get), and take the familiar feat and pick a badger that way. As a side effect of the former, you could describe summoning your badger as throwing him at where he needs to go. In both cases, if he gets punted across the universe, you can just wait and resummon him. So, it seems to work pretty well.

Nah I think half the fun is that he would continually die and I'd just wind up with another badger, but they're always named francis.

That wasn't really enough to carry the crude humor of the cartoon for me. Saying it targeted both sides doesn't make it funnier for me.

So far I haven't been disappointed by any of the cartoons. I haven't watched the last one but I found the Dragon one pretty funny.
