Heh heh.....the wizard Altai turned into a remorhaz and swallowed a flesh golem whole in my pbp. I linked an original remorhaz by DAT, then we started having grognard fun....wererats....fire giants....then the salamander....then fakey said that would be a badass tat.
So I start this thread for DAT art links...

Liberty's Edge

fire giant et. al...

Liberty's Edge

emirikol the chaotic....my fave...

The Exchange

Nothing to add but wanted to say thanks for reminding me of how much I missed the old art.

Liberty's Edge

Tell me about it.

The hill giant. This'll make an, um... unique tattoo.

Yeah, if only all the line art in AD&D had been of DAT's quality.

Now he just needs a banjo.

Ah reckon so

Happy Cinco de Mayo, Hugo.

The goblin.

A couple of psionic monsters - the intellect devourer and the, um, brain duck or whatever it was called. Now that is an awesome tattoo. :S

Finally, my favourite - lemures! These would actually look pretty cool if done right.

Dude, the brain duck link is the same as the Goblin link.

this is pretty cool stuff, I remember most of this stuff from WAY back when. I just wish there was a site dedicated to all his stuff. He really deserves it.

I will have to check these out later.

How did the newer art for the intellect devourer turn out lamer than original art. Take note, compilers of bestiaries!

Fixed it. Tremble before the majesty of the brain duck!

Thanks for finding these and posting them guys. I started D&D with 2nd edition, but we didn’t get the Monstrous Compendium for a few years, instead we used the first edition MM, MM2 and FF borrowed from the older brother of one of the guys in our group. So these pics really bring back memories from my early days of gaming.

Ah, the good old Thought Eater.

It's a hungry hungry platypus silly!

What books are these all from? I want to try to find them.

Hopefully, not on PDF. :) <runs away>

Edit: These illustrations make me nostalgic for earlier versions of the game. (sigh)

I think they are all from the 1e AD&D PH, DMG, and MM. Most of them are from the Monster Manual.

What he said...

*first edition nostalgia sets in*

*5 de Mayo hangover fades out*

The salamander. One of the coolest.

BTW, has anyone found the Pit Fiend illustration from the Monster Manual? I seem to remember that picture was rather cool.

Here you go Vatt: The Pit Fiend

Somehow the salamander is going somewhere else.

Grand Lodge

Fixed the salamander link - it had two "=" signs before the URL, which apparently did something to it...

And Patrick, thanks for the Pit Fiend pic! I searched and searched, but found nothing. Your Google-fu is clearly stronger than mine.
