would definately be a mayan, I just couldn't ignore the opportunity to decapitate a conquistador with my Macuahuitl
Roman Legionary during the late republic.
Enjoy the benefits of one of the greatest western civilizations in history. Be a part of a very efficient military machine. Retire with great benefits.
Alternately:
Samurai, I've been told my personal moral code conforms closely with historical bushido though I haven't done enough research to know if this is true or not. I would have chosen European knight but I have enough problem with the catholic church that I would promptly be excommunicated.

Let's think about this ...
How about ...
... United States Army [or Marines, or Navy, or Air Force] in the 21st Century? (i.e., now)
- part of an astounding military machine
- superior miliatry equipment
- awesome medical support
- excellent supply chain
- regular contact from home
- ... where you retain your rights as a citizen
- benefits of a great civilization
- etc
Do not forget Right Now is just as much part of history as Ancient Greece.

Who here has seen Deadliest Warrior on Spike TV? I'll have you know that the samurai, viking, gladiator and apache warrior have been on it, and next week it's gonna be the spartan vs the ninja.
The show is full of win.
Seriously? This is television that's devolved into a big-budget version of "Who do you think would win in a fight?" No thanks.

I have! It's a fun show although their logic over which weapon or armor is better doesn't always seem seem that well thought out. Still, it's great seeing the weapons in action, used by guys who know what they're doing.

QFT. There are times when I question their logic on weapons. I bet they try and make it a fifty-fifty split between them each time anyways *roll eyes*

Yeah, I can see where this wouldn't appeal to some. I thought it was at least entertaining and pretty enlightening (to some degree) unlike most shows on Spike.
Oh, and I would be a Viking!
