Any one know if there will be psionic iconic characters??

Eventually, I suppose there will be. We've no plans to tackle psionics any time soon, though.

Ok,thank for the quick reply.

Of all the things ever implemented in D&D, Psionics would have to have been the most "What The....".

AD&D Psionics felt tacked on, 2nd Ed Psi only felt right in Darksun.

I was sort of happy not to see them back.

They were back in 3e, and in 3.5, and they will be back in Pathfinder. Chronicles already has them (there's a short article about them in the Campaign Setting).

But since a lot of people don't like them, they won't take centre stage, they'll always be optional.

I like the concept of Psionics. My personal implementation is somewhat akin to mages in Mage: The Awakening. Reality and those natural laws aren't as immutable as everyone thinks. The mind could in theory re-arrange it, since it is more powerful than those silly rules.

But if you're not careful, reality lashes back, and that's akin to a leverage effect pushing out your brain through your ears.

Because of this, sentient beings have long ago learned to limit themselves. They block away those parts of the mind that could play with reality, since idly messing around with it is like running naked, with eyes closed, throug a pack or purcupines.

Those that are called psionicists have somehow "awakened", at least a bit. They still can't rearrange reality on a whim, but the self-imposed restrictions have loosened somewhat from "don't let you do anything" to "only let you do small, and limited, things". As they progress in manifester classes, they awaken more and more.

The Iconic Psionic should be a Half-Orc. :)

We need three psionic characters:

The iconic half-elf psion
The iconic half-orc psychic warrior (they make good psychic warriors)
The iconic gnome (or halfling) wilder.

I don't list an iconic soulknife because I think the other classes should kill the soulnife and take its stuff (i.e. mindlbades.)

Actually, I have a better idea.

The iconic half-orc psion
The iconic half-orc psychic warrior (they make outstanding psychic warriors)
The iconic half-orc wilder.

:P

Does. Not. Happen.

Nah, a thri-kreen.

Or an illithid.

Or an intellect devourer.

Or a Vulcan.

Or Professor X.

Oh, wait, those are already taken.

A random, sorta off topic thought. When did the association with mental powers and baldness come about? Professor X is bald, the iconic for the psion in 3.5 is bald (I think the psionic warrior is too). Heck, baldness is a prerequisite for being a syker in Deadlands. Any thoughts?

An overabundance of mental energy bleeds through the scalp, damaging the follicles.

/I said that straight-faced too.

It's not that they don't have heir. It's that their head has expanded to make room for all that brain, and has enveloped the hair.

I would swear I've seen a study that claims bald people are smarter...

Maybe thats why!
