Hello,
I'm always asking myself about the DC for identify a weapon or a wand and so on...
For example, Vencarlo's rapier keen +2, the DC for the knowledge arcana is 22 or above?
To identify a spell, so a potion, it's DC 15+lvl of the spell.
But to identify a weapon +1, or a wand or a rod?
Thanks a lot!

In beta rules if you have detect magic active you can identify magic items by having detect magic active and making an appraise check at DC(15+caster level).
Normally you can assume the caster level is the lowest level possible to make the item.
Casting identify is now free and gives you a +10 on this check.

Identify a potion is an Alchemy check, DC15. Identify a spell as it is being cast is a Knowledge (Arcana) DC15+Spell Level.
That's not my understanding; I thought that both of those were uses of spellcraft. Identifying a potion is DC 25.

Uh, there's no Skill roll to identify a magic item in the basic rules. You talking pathfinder or something? Only the Indentify spell will do that.

In pfRPG Beta you can use Appraise in conjunction with detect magic or identify to ascertain the magical proprieties of items. Specific rules found under the skill on pages 55-56 and under the two spells, pages 218 and 240.

Thanks, so if I well understand (because I use the pfRPG Beta),- To identify a wand or magical sword (like Vencarlo’s rapier), you use detect magic (or identify which give you +10 on appraise) and the difficulty is equal to 15 + half cater level check, so for this rapier, to enhance a keen rapier you must be caster level 10, so the DC on appraise is 20?
- To identify a spell (like in a bottle), it’s a detect magic and the DC is 15+ lvl of the spell.
In the appraise explanation, it’s written that: “You cannot determine the powers of artifacts through the use of this skill”. What does it mean “the power of the artifact”? You don’t know if it’s a +1 or +2 weapon?

Umm, nope, it says 15 + the item's caster level. Not half. So for your example, the DC would be 25.

Artifacts are very specific one of a kind magical items. They put some into the magical download that put in the spells that were left out of the Beta. Things like Hand of Vecna - he only lost one of these, so there's only one to find :) Or Elric's Stormbringer, a unique intelligent blade, one of a kind stuff. In these sorts of cases, you cannot Appraise fo find out what they do. Not sure how you do find out ... hmmm.

Excuse me, of course it's clearly noted that it's 15+ lvl caster, SO SORRY!! Thanks!

I was in the middle of saying that I think you need to use analyze dweomer for an artifact, but I figured I'd better look it up first and it says explicitly that it can't be used on artifacts.
In that case you might need to do something along the lines of a vision or legend lore spell to have an idea of what the artifact is and even then its up to the DM whether you know the exact details or just what legends say it does.
