Male Half-Orc Fighter/1st

Here's my half orc meteor hammer fighter, ignore the game mechanics in profile currently, as i'm in the process of copying them over. Also, if you will, ignore the paleness of the avatar. I couldnt find any half orc avatar I liked so I chose the one I did because i think the chain demon can pass for a half orc, and the campaign setting mentions they like to collect slavery paraphernalia such as manacles, brands and chains.

yea,

hope everyone has a good easter!

Thanks memento.

Everyone, I'll make the opening post in a couple of days. :)

Here is the game thread. Although you weren't known to each other previously, you have been travelling together for a week or so. If you could make an opening post describing yourself and perhaps the impression people are likely to have of you after knowing you for a week. The trip has been uneventful so far, you are chatting amongst yourselves as you follow your employer Garavel along a faint trail. The day is just drawing to a close as the campaign begins.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Monty, I really hate to do this, but I seem to be at about my limits of what I can keep track of as far as PBP goes. I think I'm gonna have to bow out of this one. I'm starting to have trouble remembering exactly who I'm supposed to be now when I go to post :) Jahaira has barely interacted with the others so far, so I don't think her absence would be particularly noticed here. Or if you don't mind NPCing her for a couple of weeks whilst I catch up on stuff, I can come back in later, but I don't want to end up holding things back while people are wondering where I am. Thanks.

That's a pity but I do know what you mean. I'll put her on 'spectator-mode' for a few weeks. Let me know how things go with time commitments and she can either drift away or you can resume your place in the party as things settle.

Hmmm, should Garai run on the next round, or stand gloating over the half-orc giving Douena a chance to leg it?

We weren't going to mention it... :)

However, since Nevyn has provided an inadvertent bump for this thread, I know lynora is taking a break at least for a while - allow me to ask is everyone else still with us?

Well, I'm obviously still here.....tehe

Now time for meta discussion in the correct thread.....It would appear we have our man, now, do we put the name forward and trust our business woman to consider him too valuable to kill, or do we feign ignorance?

Obviously I'm here, as well. Nevyn and I just have way too much time on our hands, it would appear. :)

As for the murder mystery, don't you know it's never the guy everyone suspects? I think there's a twist somewhere. Sadly, Nuveril isn't intelligent enough (or hasn't seen enough movies) to come to the same conclusion. She still wants to talk to Dashki (sp?), though. If he really is a gnoll expert, he might have valuable wisdom to impart ... you know, about how to kill more of them.

Of Course, although, I have been off work today looking after the kids, so plenty of free time...Back to work tomorrow may slow me down, a little :)

I agree, although Losk has no in character reason to think differently. The only other options appear to be the priest of Nethys, who appears to be on the good side of that faith, what with healing and stuff, or the boss woman herself....She does have a history of ruthlessness. Wouldn't want to be the one to break that theory to her though :)

You think he's healing them. Those two were totally conscious before he started working on them. ;)

Fortunately, my players rarely use it, or when they do, they use it when the NPC is actually being truthful for a change. They're a foolishly trusting lot. :)

lol. Saying that, 21 isn't a massively high number, he *could* well still be lying, but Losk is entirely sure he's not.

Neskari hasnt posted since the 24th of April, Ato since the 22nd. Are you guys busy in RL, but still want to be involved? Or is it not what you were looking for? I'm not fussed if you need to take a break - nor if it's not how you like it and you'd rather bow out. Please let me know though, in case I need to find a replacement or two...Cheers

I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Are there any NPCs that you actually trust when you first meet them? :p

"Are there any NPCs that you actually trust, ever?" Is probably the better question. :)

No, of course not, trusting NPCs would be silly!

Of course, who *I* trust, and who Losk trusts are two completely different things, so once Neveril has finished her investigation, I think Losk will have had enough to drink to start the damning accusations.

LOL I just know how I run NPCs. They all have their own agendas. Like the fair young noblewoman the paladin rescued from a gauth and is now engaged to, who actually hired the gauth to kidnap her to entrap a chivalrous paladin into marriage to protect her holdings. Or the vampire who persuaded the PC party of 3 paladins and a Radiant Servant not to destroy him.

Back on topic, Allovin posted on the Osirion thread. Maybe our druid will be back soon. As for Ato, I've been keeping up with a Second Darkness thread he plays on as I'm running that AP in real life, and he hasn't posted over there recently either.

Just think how smug Douena is going to get to be...

Cheers - the three of you is enough for now I think (I'm still crossing fingers that Lynora decides she has enough time to rejoin). Hopefully Ato will make a re-appearance soon too. I'll be posting a little more in future - I have been waiting to give everyone a chance to post.

Extra marks for introducing me to the phrase "paradisaical slaughterfield", by the way. :)

Sorry for being MIA the last week. For some reason I haven't been able to access Paizo from either work or home. Just as a heads up I won't be able to post this weekend but should be good starting Monday.

So, as far as I can tell, we have Losk who is sure the Gnoll hunter did it. And Nuveril, who thinks he didn't. We aren't very good at this....What do we do?

When it's light again, Nuveril intends to check for tracks to see if there's any evidence of a small creature entering camp -- or of Dashki coming and going. Not that her plusses are all that, being just first level and all, but if Invisible Castle likes me, we might get lucky.

Speaking of Perception checks, Losk hasn't investigated the burned wagon yet. It might not be his strongest check, but there are always natural 20s.

That's a good point....

Steve, I'm looking for rules mechanics for fighting a fire for my RL game. I have Howl of the Carrion King on my shelf but haven't looked at it to avoid spoiling myself for this game. In the bit with the fortune teller's wagon, are there any rules about the kinds of things the characters can do to put out the fire with success/failure DCs, or is it more a vague "If the PCs all pitch in, eventually the fire will be extinguished?"

There arent any general mechanics, but they include a number of skill checks. Things along the lines of "it takes a DC25 check to roll the nearest wagon to safety" or "it takes eight people ten rounds to extinguish the fire with buckets of sand" (I'm paraphrasing, being away from the book, but you get the idea). There wasnt much that you wouldnt be able to easily invent (nothing about how long wagons take to burn, spreading of fire, damage from smoke inhalation or any crunchy stuff like that).

Nuveril's not smart enough to come up with this idea, but maybe one of the others of you might ask around to see if anyone else in camp reported having unusually bad luck around the time of the fire. How about the guys who were wounded? If the pugwampi was still in the wagon area when they tried to put out the fire, maybe their injuries could be attributed to tripping into the fire, hitting their heads on the wagon, etc.

EDIT: Hope it's okay to suggest this, Steve. Thought it might lead to a way out of our evidenceless deadlock, but I just couldn't justify Nuveril having this inspiration in character.

Hey Guys and Gals,

I hate to be a pain but I am going to have to drop out. I just found out that I will definitely have to find a new job come July so between work, job hunting, and a couple of weddings to go to this month I am not going to be able to participate. I apologize for this but I don't want to hold you guys anymore. I'll post this in the game thread as well.

Sorry,
Aaron

No trouble. I'm not too stressed about stuff like this. Don't worry about it too much though - as usual with Paizo stuff, they're pretty good with the 'what if....' contingency plans.

Memento - just to check in. Are you still around? I'm going to need to recruit one replacement and will ask for two if you're no longer interested. (If you are but have been busy - that's cool too, just checking) :)

male Halfling Sorcerer

Hello all.

As promised - Nano Bristlestick, or Stix, a halfling sorcerer and unwillingly traveller in the dessert.

i've read the game-thread so let me know how i'll fit in.

Monty - as you will notice Nano is a former pesh addict, and is still using a more mild variant of the drug every night just after dinner, as a way to keep from the hard stuff as much as to flee reality. I think of it in a way as weed effect wise, so if you want to impose some kind of penalty during the late evening it will be fine by me. I was thinking something in the way of -1 or 2 on acrobatic, perception (sound based) and spellcraft checks, as he gets a little light headed.

I've made him travel with the caravan because his addiction has gotten him into debts and is paying them off like this, but he also has some personal score to set with both the dessert and gnolls. Let me know if it doesn't fit the campaign.

I'm really looking forward to start playing and Nano is very excited to meet everybody.

/kasper

Very quick - and nice work on the background/etcetera... :)
A brief spoiler regarding where you've been in the last few minutes - you'll be able to be introduced to the party immediately. Given your quality of background, I'm embarassed at the brevity, but time pressures are just putting serious constraints on my creativity at the moment. From what I can see, I'm sure you'll be able to fill in the gaps with aplomb.

Nano:

Spoiler:
You have been at the camp for a little over a week now, serving predominantly as a personal aide to Lady Almah. When the fire broke out, you were assisting her with identifying several scrolls she had recently received in a package from Katapesh. You had used read magic to determine that the first contained the spell ‘identify’ and have not yet inspected the others.

male Halfling Sorcerer

Looking at my ability scores, i believe i am 10 points below the rest of the party. I used the invisiblecastle stat point buy, but it starts at 8 and not 10 as the beta rules states. So i've changed my stats raising dex by 2 points cha by 1 and int by 2.
Please double check my scores, as i am a but confused right now

score/Points
STR 8/-2
DEX 16/10
CON 12/2
INT 12/2
WIS 8/-2
CHA 16/10

Total: 20

Halfling racial bonus: -2 strength, +2 dexterity, +2 charm
Making it
str 6, dex 18, con 12
int 12, wis 8, cha 18

No hassles at all - I just wanted to be sure you were still around. PBP deals pretty well with occasional absences given the speed with which things happen.

Hey Steve, I'm really sorry but i'm going to have to drop out of a few games what with the summer coming up i'm not sure i'll be able to keep all of my games up. I figure this one will be the easiest to pick up a replacement.

I wish you all well and look forward to perhaps trying a pbp with you all again someday if schedule permits.

good luck in your game!

It's no hassle - they're currently tied up at the moment anyway (no pun intended). Plus we're waiting on Gavgoyle's character too, so a few days more is no trouble.

Have my concept down anyway. Rogue/treasure hunter...think Bilbo but better with a blade. Should be a fun one to try. Might slip a level or two of bard in at some point. He'll be up very very soon.

Male Rogue 1

Here is Jaken Doone, treasure-seeker, historian, and second-story man. Let me know if everything checks out. Got a basic backstory that should be workable into anything you want to throw at me.

:(

Something of an anticlimax. I thought his unluck aura was going to make that battle much more irritating.

Gavgoyle and Sully we're pretty much set to add you two in. How's the final touches coming along Gavgoyle?
