Pesh addict - You start with only half of the normal starting cash,
but your knowledge of the pesh addict lifestyle grants you a +1 trait bonus on Bluff, Knowledge (local), and
Sense Motive checks. One of these skills (sense motive) is
always a class skill for you.

Nightstall Urchin - You gain a +2 trait bonus on saves
against fear effects, and when you do make a successful
save against a fear effect, the resulting rush of bravado
grants you a +1 trait bonus on attack rolls and all skill
checks for the next minute.

Personality/background

Background

Nano Bristlestick, Stix among friends and enemies, is a charming halfling with a disarming smile.
As a child Nano was left to the streets of Katapehs when his mother died giving birth and his father was working in a mine in a distant region to provide for Nano and his mother.
He has lived most of his childhood being chased. As a Halfling he was an attractive target for slavers who would sell him off to northern people. Durring the years most of his friends met just that destiny, and Nano learned not to get to emotionally attached to people.
At a young age he discovered that he had certain gifts. Among them was an ability to make his feets move faster than even those of the larger races  a talent that no doubt saved him from slavers many times. At first these gifts only showed themselves when he was cornered or worked up emotionally, but as he grew older he learned to control them and see them as opportunities.
One day, playing in the dessert outside the city with other street childs and his best friend, a halfling girl named Anuma, they were attacked by gnoll slavers. Afraid for his own life Nano escaped without concern for the others. He hasn't sat foot in the dessert after that incident, and guilt has plagued him since then, forcing him to hide in an addiction to pesh. Only when he is high he can't hear the scream of Anuma being dragged away.

A local street thug named Kalim Ahman from the Nightstalls, took Nano in  protecting him as he said. In reality Kalim was using his addiction, by forcing him to steal and paying him in pesh.
One day Kalim ordered Nano to assassinate a woman who couldn't pay him for her drugs. Drugged up, Nano didn't know what he was doing untill he looked at the body at his feets and the blooded knife in his hand. In pure rage he went back to Kalim and started an argument with him. Kalim shrugged and told him, that's how life is. Kalims nonchalance toward killing psuhed Nano over the edge. He lurched forward, meaning to shove Kalim, but as soon as he touched him electrical energy soared through his body and into Kalim. Many seconds passed before Nano let go, and when he did Kalim slumbed limp to the floor, life drained from his eyes.
Nano fled to the only place he has known as home  the streets. Here he swore to change his life and get out of his addiction. He is not intirely drug free today, but instead of taking the powdered and highly addictive version of pesh, he is smoking dried and crushed part of the plant wich is not as addictive and not nearly as euforic as the powder. In dried pesh he has found a state of mind, in wich he feel he can live free. Free of guilt for Anuma, free of guilt from the poor woman he murdered to get drugs and free of the tough life he has lived.

When a man named Garavel came by, collecting an old debt by making Nano go and aid in reclaiming a remote village Kelmarane, wich has been overrun by gnolls, he seemd reluctant, and complaining. But in his heart he want to go on this journey to revenge the only person he has ever loved and trusted; Anuma and to look the dessert in the face again, and oppose it.

Personality

As long as Nano has dried pesh to smoke, he is cheerful and friendly. His life on the streets has introduced him to many different and strange people over the years, causing him to be open minded and tolerant towards new people.
His years of addiction has set it's mark, and allthough he is nimble, he is weaker than even most halflings. But it was never his strength that kept him alive, but rather his agility and his charm.
He is spontaneous and sometimes makes some rash action.
He is used to the city life, being in the dessert doesn't suit him well. He constantly complain and kick the sand as if to make it go away.

Nano has a feeling that he is special. He is sure that somewhere in his family something strange happened, giving him those powers he poses. He often tells people that he is a descendant from the Pactmasters themselves, a claim that has actually gotten him out of more than one sticky situation.
He is quick mouthed and able to make both believeable and unbelieveable lies and claims sound true.

When night falls, he likes to gather at a bon fire, lighting his pibe and let him sink into another state of mind. For about an hour he is completely relaxed and doesn't say much, although he is allways very generous passing the pibe around, for any who wants to get in. If nobody wants to smoke he just shrug.
At night, just before he sleeps he likes laying on his back and casting Prestidigitation to form little figures in the smoke, and just let his mind go. While doing this he doesn't say or do anything but just laying focusing on nothing.
It is doing this time a day that he is most relaxed in his mind and able to focus on his mind and his powers, and these 20 minutes is his daily focis to recharge his daily spell. He still need 8 hours of sleep afterwards, for the spells to fully be available.
Each day, sorcerers and bards must focus their minds on the task of casting their spells.
A sorcerer or bard needs 8 hours of rest ( just like a wizard), after which he spends 15 minutes concentrating.During this period, the sorcerer or bard readies his mind to cast his daily allotment
of spells

He has never spoken to anyone about his past, especially not about Anuma and the woman he murdered. When asked about his past he looked pained, as if reliving it all, and answers that he has done and seen things people can't even begin to understand.
