Anyone finished RotRL?

Rise of the Runelords

Grand Lodge

Checking through the archives, I couldn't find any overviews of the campaign from DMs that had finished the path? Has anyone out there run it to completion? What were your favorite parts? What were your PCs favorites? There's been some talk of skipping number 5 entirely, how do you feel about that?

My group and I are about to finish up Hook Mountain and they have enjoyed it so far but seem to respond better to the sprawling movement of the campaign or the social interactions. I am worried about sending them into the dungeon at Runeforge. Any thoughts?

In the Runeforge there can be alot of politics they dont all have to be battles with every leader of every area

I know of at least 4 groups who have mentioned completing it..

We're about to head into the Scribbler's den and so far it's been a BLAST. One of the characters, who so far has been moral and true and good just made a pact with Yaenit-ku to save Sandpoint when Lamashtu decides to rise and unleash her children onto the world, and oh by the way, also get Ameiko to love him... It's been a great deal of fun!

I should also add that the Scribbler is reborn into Tsuto, who in my campaign was caught and jailed awaiting trial when all the havoc started in Sandpoint. He escaped as the giants attacked and fled into the catacombs of Wrath, there to be offered a bargain: serve Lamashtu by hosting the Scribbler's spirit and get his slain love to live again. He accepted and the module has proceeded much as written, save Tsuto sent the Hounds to retrieve Ameiko so she can be properly punished for her "betrayal" of Tsuto. The PC saw the Hounds dragging Ameiko into the sinkhole and made his bargain to save her... Except, true to demonic principles, the Ameiko who came out of the sinkhole is actually a succubus and the true Ameiko is still being dragged to her doom.

I love this game!

I think for a group like yours, I'd play up the endless politicking that 10,000 years of being locked in a seven way battle can engender and give them as much chance as they can to act as agents of disorder and allow some of the factions to view them as opportunities to gain supremacy...

Our group is heading into Jorgenfist and so far RotRL has been my most successful camapign to date. Many memorable moments, atmosphere (subplots, drama, intrigue, props, music, sound effects) and lots of laughs. We're implementing most of the Beta rules and can't wait til the hardcover comes out. The party consists of a Varisian Bard/Human Paragon, A Shoanti Ranger/Barbarian/Rogue/Nature's Warrior (phew!), a Halfling Rogue/Avenger, and a Chelaxian Infernal Sorcerer/Mindbender.

We completed it some time ago (we'll be starting the last part of Crimson Throne this weekend...).

I loved the mood in #2 and #3. Lots of horror, in two disturbingly good flavours.

I liked the Runeforge, too, and there's plenty of nice pieces in there - lots of opportunities to roleplay (okay, I fess up: Lots of opportunities to mess with the players }>)

My players whined about the final "dungeon" being so big, i.e. being more than just the place where they fight the boss, but I prefer it this way. No sense in having the final boss being all alone somewhere, without his minions.
