Lousy messageboard software?

Man, I don't like this board software! :(

I'm looking for this thread: http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizo/websiteFeedback/fantazyGroundAnd Pathfinder

But it seems to be gone. I've posted in the thread myself, but I also can't seem to find any way to find all of my posts!

Searching the forum for "maptool" bring up ZERO - NADA - ZILCH hits, and yet I know I've seen MapTool mentioned multiple times.

How many hoops do I have to jump through to find this thread -- and where do I find those hoops? (Sigh)

We moved the thread because it was off-topic; it now lives here. (I see you did find it.)

You can find your recent posts by clicking on your name, then on Recent Posts (or going here).

Currently, searching posts that aren't first in a thread is problematic, so it's temporarily disabled. You can search our site using google by adding "site:paizo.com" (note the lack of spaces) to your search terms.

Hey, that's really cool. I just tried that with a bunch of sites. Thanks, Vic. :)

This one is strong in the Google-fu.

Thanks for the tip, Vic.

Yes, I did. I figured out how to locate my own posts and fortunately I had posted to it. :)

Wow. So unless I pick words from the OP, I'm out of luck with the local search engine? Wow. :(

But yes, I know about the Google option. I also know about "inurl:", "intitle:", and a few others. But there's this very convenient Search box in the corner, you see, and silly me I thought it would work... ;)

Thanks for the info. :)

'sup Maptool homie.

Don't worry, I have been representing the finest free virtual tabletop, and I'm not alone here.

Sigh. One day, it shall work again!

Then again, some of us are rather fond of it...

Have you considered replacing the search code with a nice front end for Google site search?
It seems it would be trivial to replicate the CURRENT functionality, and not much more difficult to increase it, say, enabling searching for (or constraining another search TO) specific Thread Titles (the final subpath in the url), and even specific posters (by preparsing search text with the paizo board's conventions for displaying poster ID data (e.g. "/paizo/people/Quandary" in proximity to "XYZ"). It would be great to click a button to search within a thread, or search only the posts of a specific member/avatar.

I learned this long ago. Google searches are often the best way to search a site. Well above searching the actual site.

Not me. The boards really could use something else - though I must say that it's impressive what they did witht his piece of software.

I need it as White as possible... I read at work, usually there are people who could turn around and look over my shoulder, so I have to disable all of the images so people don't ask about avatars.

I frequently check in on some threads on my Blackberry. These boards get compressed really well with Google's Mobilizer for easy reading on a phone browser.

True. This is one of the easier forums to navigate on my (admittedly crappy) phone browser.

I've gotten used to the idiosyncrasies on these boards, the only think I'd like to see that isn't currently on line is a PM feature.

Private messages would be really cool.

I beg to differ. Private messages balkanise and fragment discussions, and reduce the wonderful serendipity that a shared room brings. Often threadjacks and threadhacks are the most fun in a thread.

Having a few social networking tools would be cool. Being able to leave messages for people on Paizo would be a good start. Just not taking a conversation and splitting it into a plethora of lacunae and atolls at the same time.

I wouldn't mind being able to underline things... but all in all I am not to demanding of message boards I read.

So you want to be able to leave messages, but not private ones?

Some things do not concern everyone, and it would be nice if we could do that stuff without putting our email addresses in here, or sharing private messages with everybody.

Man, so James Jacobs can harass me asking for Kate Beckinsale's phone number just because I'm English?

Well, yes. Don't be so selfish.

Yeah, seriously man, what the hell is your deal? Stop hoarding it.

After he didn't notice they'd left traits out of Osirion? No way.

Anyhow, a satisfied and happy individual wouldn't survive long given the rigours of the editorial pit. They need to be hungry and desperate.

And he can't do that now?

Or everyone else here. Me included.

Come one, she's out of your league, anyway (but I bet she would just rip her clothes off if I promised her to tell her about that Pathfinder bard I'm playing!)

Like a bloodhound! In fact, we should call it the Editorial Kennels!
