...they were cutting large (important) pieces of my neck out. I haven’t been around much lately due to financipocalypse making work busier than ever for those of us left, but I thought I’d take a moment to stop by and say thank you to everyone.

I really appreciate all the patience, kind words, thoughts, and prayers sent in my direction last year during my cancer (and other) surgeries. Your time did not go unappreciated! Still not 100% who I used to be, but I’m alive and chugging right along, so good deal.

Never really chatted with you but my family has also be touched by cancers hand, so I just want to say ,"be strong", many friends you never met are thinking of you while you "do battle".

Best wishes.

Always glad to see a post with your moniker go past.

Also touched by cancer in the family.

I've also never had the opportunity to chat with you, but I still want to offer my well wishes and prayers. I'm glad to hear you're beating this.

woo hoo!

May this next year bring continued healing, health, and gaming!

Mike, necks are overrated. As I'm not much of a necklace wearer, it seems I've never done anything important with mine.

Seriously, it all must have been so harrowing. I honestly can't imagine going through what you went through. As always, we're happy to see you 'round, ol' friend, and thanks for the update.

Hey, if it was thyroid cancer, know that it IS beatable. My sister got it about 17-18 years ago (with a goiter about the size of a tangerine) and had thyroid and about 4 lymph nodes removed. She has to eat a pill to regulate whatever thyroids produce and has a nifty scar on her throat, but she hasnt had to swallow radioactive iodine for at least 8 years or so.

Another friend of mine got the same cancer when she turned 33, shes about 38 now. I dont keep up with her as much as I used to (thanks for the reason to talk to her again :D), but Im pretty sure she has to take that daily pill too.

Weird thing, because neither of them smoked AFAIK.

Anyway, sending good thoughts your way...

A fellow cancer survivor here, and I'm glad to hear you're doing okay.

Mine was non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, but it was in the area around my throat, so they cut out half my thyroid and etc. about thirteen-and-a-half years ago. The surgery left a scar that followed the bottom-most crease of my neck, and if I remember correctly, the scar had faded almost completely by the one-year mark (to the point that people don't notice it unless I point it out to them).

And while I remember feeling not-quite-me at the one-year mark (chiefly, I had severe sensitivity to sunlight as a leftover from my radiation therapy, plus some complications getting my Synthroid dosage right), I think most of it got a lot better over the course of that next year. So hang in there, it does keep getting better!

Mike, I for one am glad that you are feeling well and have made it through your trials!
