Oddball Character Concepts for the Society

Pathfinder Society

The Exchange

I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes to come up with really odd character concepts for the society in their free time. So, post your more left-field character ideas in this thread.

Mine:

A chaotic neutral worshiper of Calistria who serves Cheliax, not because he wants to see Hell on Golarion, but because of their promises of really out-of-there carnal pleasures.

Slip, an Osirion-born halfling sold into Chelish slavery at a young age. He kept his hatred of slavery and the Chelish well-hidden, infiltrated the Chelish faction, secretly forming contacts with Andoran characters to assist them with their faction missions, all the while working to thwart Chelish faction missions from the inside (refer the thread "Deliberately failing faction missions?"), and secretly longing to discover the Osirioni culture he never grew up to know.

Slip's concept was heavily inspired by:

Cheliax is insidious. Sometimes the best way to oppose an enemy is to join their ranks, steal their secrets and rot them from within. Cheliax urges loyal agents and citizens to join the Pathfinder Society when able, all the better to keep close tabs on this cryptic rogue organization and occasionally beat them to the punch on an important find.

It should also be noted though that while many pathfinders from the Cheliax faction are something akin to spies and double agents, just as many attempt to reconcile their country's conflicts with the Society and walk that treacherously thin line between them. In other words patriotism comes in many different colors and levels of zeal. I imagine some Chelish pathfinders believe in both their nation's greater glory and the goals of the Society, and must navigate the rocks and shoals of serving two masters who are at odds with one another.

This is why I love Cheliax, just being a Chelish pathfinder is itself a cool roleplaying hook. You, more than any other pathfinder, have to really examine how and why you joined up and what your true intentions/motivations are. Awesome!

Of course, Nic was referring to loyal Chelish faction members working within the Society - Slip was inspired by this concept, albeit turned on it's head. Living within Chelish society most of his life, Slip has observed double-agent techniques from the best, and uses these techniques against the Chelish themselves.

Here's my oddball idea (that most likely won't see any play, as it should be with too weird ideas)

A Qadiran druid who has two weapon fighting and devotee of the sun goddess. Likes to wild shape into a dire bat, cast produce flame and pretend to be a tie-fighter.

Aside from the tie fighter bit (that no one would get IC) that sounds pretty cool. Just don't be drow and keep a panther companion, heh.

My Pathfinder Society character is a little bit of an oddball. Sillitta Ederus was the elder daughter of a minor Chelaxian noble and a stdent at the arcane academy in Egorian. When she was discovered to trafficking with demons, she was hauled before the rest of the academy for punishment. There, in front of friends, peers, and her younger sister, Sassa, she was polymorphed into a halfling and shipped home to her mother in disgrace.

Not quite sure what to do with her now halfling daughter, Lady Ederus simply turned Sillitta (now simply known as Sil) over to a couple of older halfling slaves. With time, Sil settled into a the routine of being a slave in her own home. She even came to love her adopted halfling parents. Hpwever, when Andoren abolitionists struck at teh Ederus estate, Sil escaped-- along with her younger sister's spellbook.

Now free, Sil has resumed her study of the arcane arts. Though she has maintained some interest in conjuration and summoning, she is actually more of a generalist wizard. Sil has also joined teh Pathfinder Society, and has started to perform minor tasks for the Andorens as a way of thanking tehm for rescuing her from the clutches of Chelaxian slavery.

A player's response to 'no weapons' caused me to rewrite what I'd like to play for Pathfinder.

Captain Andoran! Fighting for what's right and kicking chelaxians in the nuts (because they scream like girls not because they're evil.

Human (maybe Horc or Dwarf) Fighter with all the shield feats, enchanted for throwing (and returning), and because it's so fun a Helm of Glo~~~~~rious recovery!

I have a couple of Whacky ideas, which I think are relatively unique.

1. Sir Francis Chaucer

Ex-Bard1
Paladin2
Fighter2
Dragon Disciple X

(Basically a fighter with Diplomacy)

Cheliaxian follower of Abadar. Follows the economic school of rationalism, that by ensuring Cheliax has a stable economy, is well placed in the world, and has a burgeoning middle class, he will help initiate a peaceful transition away from the need for Devil pacts and a return to pre-Thrune control. (Is a bit misguided, but most Paladins of Abadar are a bit more on the law side than the good)

2. Father Ephraim Gideon

Cleric X of Groetus.

Raving 'End of the World is nigh' Cleric who adventures to 'relish' life whilst he still can, as well as assist the Void moon in any way he can. Pays particular attention to halting cults of Rovagug, who is trying to steal Groetus's thunder by ending the world first.

Rants on about Nihilistic philosophies a LOT and is quite fatalistic... (this PC is probably going to play through the second Darkness Campaign setting so probably won't use him in the 'society')
