Last week, Dan Repperger and I started a new project I'd like to tell you all about. Even though it's not 100% done, I'm really excited by its early success.
We have launched a 24-hour streaming radio station. Our goal is to cover two major demographics that podcasts don't easily reach:
1. General consumers that want quality RPG content they can play without needing to select, download, and queue specific files. You can now stream great gaming content while at work or doing chores around the house, or just looking to see "what's on."
2. We see an excellent opportunity to bridge a communication gap between consumers and publishers by offering this to retailers to play throughout the day in place of muzak. The station has just now gone live, and we've already got a short list of stores signed up for this.
As of right now, the play list is primarily material from some hand-selected podcasts. However, we have some new, original content we're actively pursuing. We're also looking to diversify, keeping our focus on gaming while giving some air time to anime, movies, comics, and such.
This is a new effort, so we're still polishing it. Several improvements are already in the works, primarily centered around the content. But if you want to see what we're doing from the ground floor, check it out at:
NOTE: If you're lucky, you might tune in while the Pathfinder episode of Atomic Array is on the air.
I've been trying to get this off the ground since June 2008, and am just... I'm excited! Having Dan as a partner is also exciting. I've relied on his advice while launching Atomic Array and I'm a big fan of his podcast, Fear the Boot.
I'd like to stress one thing: retailers. While there are a couple stores playing War Pig (eight signed up this week), we'd like to add a couple hundred. Want to help bring War Pig to more gamers? Ask your local retailer to consider playing it in the store!
What's more, Dan created a widget so that you can add a War Pig player to any website. I created a video that explains how to set it up. Feel free to spread the disease little piglets...
... and by that I mean, feel free to syndicate War Pig to any and every website and blog you can find.
Paizo.com, maybe? Erik? Vic?

Listening right now!
Someone discussing the Catan Dice Game.
[EDIT: Ogre Cave just started.]
Sound quality seems good so far.
Is there a way to display what programme is currently playing?
Or a page with the listings?
Also, is it 24/7? I guess I'm about 8 hours in front of most people here.
Who's the grinning loon you got for your homepage mascot?
That is one happy chappy!

Snorter, you'll be happy to know that we just added a UK bandwidth mirror so you'll be able to get better signal (ie, less down time). Our original solution just couldn't handle the number of listeners so now we expand...
If you're listening via iTunes, the current track information shows up at the top. I'm not sure about the other players. At some point, we'll add that to our player.
We don't publish the playlist yet. We're going to try to get our programming settled, and them I'm sure we'll publish a schedule. Dan and I talked about scheduling today and one thing we want to do is make sure that our content is in 8- or 12-hour blocks that repeat for 24 hours at a time. That way, our listeners in Europe and Asia can get the same content as the North American Gamerati.
24x7? You bet'cha. All day, every day.
