Injury and Death - Stablization roll

Combat

Why is the roll to stabilize a percentile roll instead of a D20 roll? It's a 10% chance, you could just say roll a DC 19 check and then you don't have a special roll.

I just don't understand why the whole point of the D20 system is to standardize the resolution why you'd use a % roll for this.

-Edit: fixed my lousy counting (DC 18 instead of 19)

Couple things:

1) 10% IS dc19 because since you succeed on a 19 or 20 and each chance represents 5% thats 5% + 5% = 10%

2) while i like the concept of dice standardization, i didn't buy a complete set of dice just to roll one. I say one of the things thats neat about dnd is rolling different dice. I know that might sound silly, but i'm serious .

1. Correct, originally I put DC 18, when in reality it's 19.

2. Not silly, but resolution mechanic is not the place for that. D10's are rolled for damage and when rolling for treasure etc. Should not have a new resolution mechanic out of nowhere for no good reason.

Ok fair enough. All I'm saying is I resist all efforts to standardize for the sake of standardization. I mean we could really go all the way and just use d20's for everything, but then that wouldn't be very satisfying to me. I *like* rolling d4's and d12's now and then and in fact want to come up with more reasons to do so lol

Granted, but the resolution mechanic isn't the place for that. If you're trying to resolve if you're bleeding or not, you should use the resolution mechanic.
