Rise of the Runelords PBP

Gamer Connection

Well, I've been waiting for a game to be offered, and can't find one, so I guess I'd better step up and offer to run one.

PFRPG Beta Rules, 20 point buy, double starting hitpoints (and let the dice fall where they may). Five players seems about right. There are loads of excellent ideas in the DM support thread that I can't wait to lovingly rip off. Anyone interested?

I might be interested. Have you DMed a play-by-post game before?

No, but I'm an experienced tabletop DM for about 20 years. There's a first time for everyone. I'm following a couple of long-running games in the PBP forum to see how its done well, and have no problem receiving constructive criticism.

Sounds good enough to me. :-) Sometimes I've joined a game where the DM (usually a young whippersnapper...) has a lot of enthusiasm but not as much follow-through and then the game dies in a month or two.

I'd be interested in playing a halfling paladin (a race and a class that I've never used in 3.X).

Liberty's Edge

Hey there

I'd like to participate

Is it cool if i get back to you with a concept?

im interested

Those who are interested, please post brief character concepts in this thread. Once I have a balanced party of five, I'll create threads elsewhere for play and discussion, and ask you to fully stat up your characters.

Cheers

Liberty's Edge

I am very interested in joining as well! Been looking for a game for quite a while.

English is not my native language but hopefully that will not be a problem?

When do you expect to start?

As soon as I have a balanced party of five. Shall we aim for the end of next week?

Count me in. I'd love to play a fighter (simple, yet effective!), either Human or Half-elf.

My idea is a middle-aged (or close to it) halfling farmer who's humble and honest but his family was not quite so good. But now that his kids have moved away (daughter moved to Korvosa to become a bloatmage, son ran off to become a bandit) and his wife has passed on (of a stroke), he's been nurturing his interest in the gods and helping out other folks. He'll probably end up using a bow and riding a dog of some kind.

i changed my mind im out.

Liberty's Edge

alright my concept is an abberant gnome sorcerer.

pretty much have him statted out, i can put him on here and add fluff whenever,

Poh Twice-Burned is a Shoati Barbarian of the Sklar-Quah (Sun Clan) who self-exiled himself from the Cinderlands until he can redeem his name. The shame of being scarred during his Burn Run and almost killed by a pack of Cinder Wolves forced him to leave his people for a time. He wields a Earthbreaker and Klar (will use the Thunder and Fang feat later).

Lots of warriors and a sorcerer so far. We need a skillmonkey at least and preferably a divine caster.

Well, it doesn't look like there is a great deal more interest. What do you guys who have expressed an interest want to do:

1) Give up?

2) Start with the characters you have already suggested (fighter, paladin, barbarian, sorcerer)?

3) Some of you submit different characters for a more 'balanced' party.

Let me know and we'll kick off (or not) ASAP.

Liberty's Edge

Are you still looking for players? If so, would you take on an Artificer for the "skill-monkey" slot?

Yes, I'm still looking for players, but I'd rather restrict the ruleset to the Pathfinder RPG Beta at the moment. Cheers.

Well, I'm willing to switch from fighter to rogue, if needs be. Then we'd be pretty balanced with four.

OK, that gives us

Hogarth playing a halfling paladin
Torillan Elandilas playing a rogue of some sort
Memento Mori playing a gnome sorceror
Draconas playing a human barbarian

There is now (or should be in a few minutes) a discussion thread for this game in the PBP Discussion forum. The above named players, please indicate your acceptance in that thread. I'll kick off the game once all players have confirmed.

I will leave this thread open for a short time in case anyone wants to be on the reserve list.

oh I still would really like to get in if possible, I actually thought I was... is it closed for now or?

I would like to play a ranger if I still get a seat.

How about a cleric of Erastil? That's almost a ranger. ;-)

I really think the party needs a divine caster/healer - at least something better than a paladin with a wand of CLW. Give me a quick character concept for a cleric/healer Stegger and I'll stretch to 5 players and take you in.

Stegger, are you with us?

Hey there Midnight Dancer, I don't know if you are still looking for a Cleric, but I have a concept for a cleric of Cayden Cailean I would like to try out. If there is still space, please let me know.

I a so sorry, work just played havoc with me this entire week.

Please let dathom join instead since he is ready with a concept!

I would have loved to play, must be another time. Sorry again....

If theres is still room i would be intrested in playing could have a character concept for pretty nuch whatever would be needed

Alright, the first person who can post an acceptable concept for their divine caster gets the gig.

Borden Alhurst is a cleric of Cayden Cailean of Chelish descent, hailing from the city of Magnimar. He is a rather brave lad who also fancies himself as quite the brewer. In his efforts, he hopes to create the perfect brew, to honor his patron deity and find enlightenment through the Lord of Wine's alcohol inspired teachings. To reach this goal, Borden has taken it upon himself to leave his home and travel to take in the sights, and sample the various drinks of Golarion, in order to find the perfect ingrediants for his future masterpiece.

As for a character profile, I can have one for you in but a few hours time.

*looks up Cayden Cailean*

Yep, that will do fine. Go join the thread in the PBP section. They're just about to get to the first combat, so you can put in a post then go do your stats.

Actually, that's a great story about how Cayden Cailean became a god. And great that he went back to the pub too. That must have been a great scene.

"Evening, Cayden. Haven't seen you for a few days. What you been up to?"
"Well, actually, I've ascended as a deity"
"Oh, that's nice. Keeping busy then. Usual?"
"Yeah"
