I started a thread that suggested the equipment section was not really worthy of discussion. Some obviously don't agree and that's okay but after two posts the thread was locked by Jason Buhlman.
Can you please tell me what policy I violated that would result in such an arbitrary decision? Or does my opinion not really matter?

You did not break any policy, which is why you were not given a timeout or a warning.
That said, the gist of your thread was "can we please skip equipment and move on to the combat playtest". The answer to that was no, so I closed down a thread that was not going add anything further to the equipment playtest.
No harm, no foul. Just movin along.

Indeed, there is definitely some work to be done on equipment. That's for sure.
Btw, does equipment include magic items? Because the Gray bag of tricks is mislisted in the Minor magic items table at 900gp, and I think (without my books at work, that it's 1700gp for the gray). If I don't write it down now, I'll forget.
I think that would be for the Magic Items playtest in the first half of February.
