Just as I posted the eyepatch lady's action, TerraNova posted Tessirda's. I actually made an attack of opportunity for Tessirda, then deleted it from the post, thinking Tessirda might not want to resort to violence at this point. Damn PbP combat.
The first combat in this game has 8 PC's, 6 friendlies and 8 enemies, for a grand total of 22 combatants. Ouch.

ditto here, though my kid has pneumonia not teething.
I'm sorry to hear that Erekose13; I hope he/she gets better. My daughter had pneumonia a couple of years ago, so I know what you're going through.
So no worries on the posting guys; I'll chill and you post when you post.

KEY TO THE GOLD GOBLIN MAP
FIRST FLOOR
1. Grand Entrance
2. Casino Floor Uhz will work the tables here. Tessirda will also likely be stationed here.
3. Cashier A foyer that provides access to the cashier’s cage.
4. Cashier’s Cage Two cashier’s are supposed to work here during operating hours.
5. Guard Room Hans and Beyar stay here to guard the cashiers and the money.
6. Daily Cash Storage This locked room holds the daily chips and monetary funds.
7. Counting Room. After hours, Saul and trusted staff members retire here to count the day’s receipts and lock them in the vault. (Probably Saul, Larur and Kelne).
8. Vault A steel door with seven keyholes and a turning wheel secure the vault. Only Saul is allowed in here.
9. Larur’s Office This is where Larur and guards sweat anyone suspected of cheating.
10. Private Dining Rooms These are rented to private parties at a rate of 5 sp per hour. When help privately Saul charges 3x the normal amount for all food and drink.
11. Cellar Entrance During operating hours the door to this room is kept locked and a guard is stationed here.
12. Kitchen
13. Scullery
14. Staff Lounge
15. The Goblin’s Tankard This is the bar that serves the entire establishment. Two bartenders normally work behind the bar. Zavos will be performing in this room.
16. Public Privies
17. Atrium This is the entrance to the guest wing.
18. Master Suite This is rented for 3 gp per night.
19. Guest Rooms Thee rooms are furnished with a double bed, table and chairs, and a fireplace. They are rented for 5 sp a night. Amyunet probably stays in one of these rooms.
20. Guest Suite This room is basically identical to the other guest rooms, except it has a small side room with two cots that can be used for manservants or storage. Its nightly rate is 1 gp. Sorda and Zindit likely stay here.
21. Linens Room
SECOND FLOOR
22. Staff Quaters Employees that don’t have a place to stay elsewhere live here (not you PC’s, see 29)
23. Dressing Room Among the articles of clothing hanging here is enough to piece together 1d3 of each of the outfits listed in the Beta except for the cold weather outfit and the royal outfit.
24. Waiting Area This is where you met with Saul the first night.
25. Saul’s Office This room is kept locked, and Saul has never let you in here.
26. Unknown you’ve never been in here.
27. Dining Room A fine table marred by a few nicks and scratches stands surrounded by eight chairs and surmounted by a trio of gold candlesticks. The walls of the chamber are covered in thick purple tapestries depicting gold- threaded nymphs frolicking in a silver-threaded forest, which completely cover the door to area 30 to prevent light from shining through into that chamber. Saul and his management team (you) take their meals here.
28. Saul’s Room This room is locked and you’ve never been in here.
29. Private Apartment Three bunk beds are shoved against the walls next to a pair of wide wardrobes. A small table with three chairs is pushed into one corner, and two overstuffed chairs sit on a wolfskin rug before the hearth. The entrance to a small privy is covered by a thin curtain. This is where those of you who don’t have anywhere else to stay will live.
30. Security Catwalks These narrow, swaying, railed catwalks hang suspended by chains hooked to the ceiling 10 feet above. Immediately below them is a layer of gauzy curtains serving as the false ceiling of area 2 below. Security personnel typically patrol these walks watching for cheaters. This is where Amyunet and Zindit will likely work.
BASEMENT
31. Wine Cellar
32. Wrangler’s Chamber This is Bojask’s room.
33. The Red Room This rough chamber has a short bar and a number of battered tables and chairs squeezed into it. The walls and floors are crudely painted a rusty red. This is the Gold Goblin’s “underground” bar that services the Octahedron. A bartender and guard handle the crowds when the fighting pit is open. Drinks here cost double what they cost at the Goblin’s Tankard.
34. Guard Alcove
35. Armory Hanging from the walls of this hall are weapons used by Octahedron combatants intelligent enough to make use of them, as well as a variety of chains, harnesses, spiked collars, leashes, and other animal training equipment.
36. Arena Steeply inclined bleachers and narrow stairs make up this crude arena that looks down into the Octahedron fighting pit 10 feet below. A short stone rail and iron bars running from the rail to the ceiling prevent any accidental entries into the contests. Two nights a week, this arena hosts a crowd of about 30 spectators with a 1 sp cover charge.
37. The Octahedron A sand-floored fighting pit.

Here are your official duties at the Gold Goblin:
Amyunet and Zindit: spotters watching from the catwalks, looking for cheaters and other troublemakers.
Kelne: security Chief, usually works the main casino floor, but may have other duties.
Tessirda: Bouncer/Guard, usually works the main casino floor.
Uzes: Dealer
Zavos: Performs in the Goblin's Tankard
Sorda: In charge of the lottery
These are not written in stone, feel free to adapt as you see fit when/if circumstances change.
After the Gold Goblin re-opens for business, you will all be partially responsible for ensuring its profitability
Here's how it works:
The Gold Goblin''s profitability is ranked on a scale of -4 to 4, with -4 indicating failure, 0 indicating break-even and 4 indicating success. Currently the profit rank is at -1. Each Sunday Saul makes a Profession (gambling) check to determine how profitable the week was, applying the current profitability rank as a modifier. It is a DC 20 check to raise the profitability ran by 1, but if the check fails by 5 or more the rank drops by 1.
You can influence the profitability check by performing your own skill checks. Granting Saul a +1 on his profitability check required a different DC for success, depending on the skill in question. If you fail the check by 5 or more, you actually impart a -1 penalty on Saul's weekly check.
Here are the skill checks you can make to try to influence Saul's check:
Bluff (DC 15): Spend 2 hours a day tricking people into visiting the Gold Goblin.
Craft (DC 15): Spend 2 hours a day and 10 gp to create eye catching advertisements.
Diplomacy (DC 15): Spend 2 hours a night greeting customers and working the floor.
Diplomacy (DC 20): Spend 4 hours a day convincing people to stop by the Gold Goblin.
Intimidate (DC 15): Spend 2 hours a day working as a bouncer
Intimidate (DC 20): Spend 2 hours a day threatening customers at other gambling establishments that if they don't do their gambling tat the Gold Goblin something bad will happen.
Perform (DC 15): Spend 2 hours a day performing at the Gold Goblin.
Profession (gambler): Spend 2 hours a day working as a dealer or croupier at the Gold Goblin.
Perception (sight-based): Spend 2 hours a day looking for cheaters at the Gold Goblin.
Sorda:
In general, you can assume that you spend 4 hours a day working for the Gold Goblin and still have enough time left over to do whatever else you want. The work hours are primarily during the evening.
Also, feel free to suggest any other ideas for skill checks to influence Saul's check for profitability.

How is everybody doing? I sense a bit of a slowdown here and I have the nagging feeling that I'm screwing this up.
If any of you have any concerns, suggestions or criticisms, please feel free to post them. Remember this is my first major PbP game.
So far I have been running the adventure pretty much as-written, but Riddleport is a big, crazy place and there is plenty of room for adventure outside what is written in Shadow in the Sky. With a party this big, it seems like many of you will be off doing your own things much of the time, either alone or in smaller groups, and we can certainly play these things out IC. I will try to provide hooks where I can.

Rimrock, you is doing just fine. Christmas and New Year means spotty posting for most people.
Plus when you start a new game there is always a shakedown period when you find out how many people are keen to play. One or two tend to drop out.
As for the other hooks, Sorda would like to set up a lottery but its only fun if other PC's get involved etc, otherwise I'd rather stick with the plot.
Cheers

DM Rimrock:
You may want to put up a new map and initiative order for the new round, as a way to prompt some responses. Then, if you don't hear from someone within a reasonable amount of time, you could act for the idle character to keep things going. This is intended as a suggestion, not a complaint, as you asked how we might keep things active.

** spoiler omitted **
Good idea.
And I hope you don't mind Zavos (and Zindit for that matter) being out of the action for the moment. I'm not sure how else to handle it. I think in this adventure that will often be the case, where a subset of the party will be participating in an encounter (role-playing or combat). I just want to make sure everyone gets their fair share.

French Wolf, just wanted to make sure that you had seen a few posts from Zavos recently: Zavos gave you the items from the wizard raider, and there are a couple of spoilerized posts to Sorda.
If Sorda is ignoring Zavos in character, that's cool and understandable ;) I just wanted to make sure that you had seen the posts when things were slow.

I'm afraid the time has come for me to leave this game. There are two reasons for this, one is that I hope to find a quicker game, more suited to me, and the other is that I am mulling over running the Legacy of Fire.
Rimrock, this was a tough decision in many ways because the game started off so well so I am sad to do this. Best of luck to you and the other players.
Cheers

That's too bad FW, I am also sorry to see you go. I know the pace is slower than I had hoped for in this game, and I take full responsibility for not engaging you enough.
But now that we have this pace, I have found it suits me. If it were much faster I would be sorely taxed time and energy-wise.
BTW, any chance of getting into your Legacy of Fire Game? And I would love to hear any constructive criticisms you might have about how I am running this game. If you want to do it offline, my e-mail is on my profile.

Thanks Scribbling Rambler.
Rimrock, there's little to criticise. Of the games I play in the one I enjoy the most is Mothman's Age of Darkness, he manages somehow to keep things moving while we make most of the decisions. Have a read of it.
The only thing your game lacks is the table chatter on the Discussion Thread that makes the other players and their PC's more memorable. I'd struggle to name the players in this game.
As for Legacy, thanks I'll add you to the shortlist (alongside Ragadolf and Tio), but remember that I haven't decided yet. Probably wont until I see the first part of the AP in April.
Cheers

I'm sorry to see you go too, Wolfy. Good luck on your game(and if you do run Legacy of Fire, I might be trying out for a spot! ;) )
So, everyone else is living in the Gold Goblin now, right?
And thanks Bryan! I was getting worried that Zindit's avoidance of Amunyet and Tessirda was getting annoying for everyone else, but now she's at least fully functional with one of them, even if she's still a bit wary.
I hope you don't mind some awkward questions coming your way, Terra. ;)

No problem. I actually thought it was pretty fun; it actually made Amunyet go out of her way to interact with her (out of curiosity and just a little bit of enjoyment at seeing Zindit squirm :-) )
| Valkyrie Paine |
Oh she'll still squirm. Amunyet and Tessirda could probably make her burst into tears just by staring at her for a minute. ;)
I'm fine with that. Tessirda is a bit of an experiment on my part, and any feedback (GM or player-side) is welcome
Well I'm enjoying her at the very least. It's fun seeing her make a new life for herself, and moving towards paladin-hood from a different angle than I'm used to seeing.

Same here. It's one of the reasons Amunyet is intrigued by her, and why she offered to accompany her to Rotgut.
