The little table on p70 says a performer can earn 1d10 cp/day, 1d10 sp/day, 3d10 sp/day, 1d6 gp/day and a max of 3d6 gp/day ... or about 2gp/hr for a truly "extraordinary performance."
#1 The earnings seem low to me.
#2 Per day?!? Jeez, you've got to blow a whole day just to earn some coin?
I'd like to suggest the per days become per hours. #1 that could up the earnings by a factor of 5 or 10, helpful but not imbalancing. #2 now you can actually do a quick performance to earn some money and do other things in the same day. Plus, with hourly rolls you might actually get a chance to retry. Otherwise, who the hell is going to sit through 24 hours of a bad performance just to give someone the chance to try again?
Oh, and the +2 to the DC for re-trys after "previous failures" - what is a failure? The table only lists varying degrees of success. Am I supposedly saying "I want to attempt a DC 10 routine performance. [roll] Damn, I blew it!" Seems to me that most people I know roll a d20, add their ranks, etc., and see how good it was. Nobody actually fails a Perform check, some are just better than others.
There are a couple of skills like this, where you're not actually checking, you're just trying to reach certain plateaus. This is fine, but language describing "failed checks" should probably be removed.
Anyway, if there is a +2 to DC for previous failures, there should probably be a corresponding -2 to DC or +2 to the roll for previous successes.
