OK, this is just a minor tweak to simplify a favorite feat of mine. Augment Summoning has two issues that, while I can’t go so far as call them problems, never sat quite right with me:
1. +4 to Str and Con is pretty potent;
2. While the pre-requisite of Spell Focus (conjuration) does a nice job of balancing out the first problem, it’s just really annoying. Especially if the PC you have designed will never find a use for it as anything but a pre-requisite.
It’s almost like gaining a powerful ability you need to pay two feats for. Which is satisfactory but my suggestion is this:
Just dump the prerequisite and reduce the bonus to +2 Str and +2 Con.
It becomes a simpler more accessible feat and it might even make room for a Greater Augmented Summoning feat at some point.

I like the idea of dropping the pre-req, but I'd go even further and also make it +1 to hit, +1 to damage, and +1 hp/HD instead of doing a stat change. My biggest pet peeve about Augment Summoning is trying to remember how you add Strength bonuses to monster attacks...
I hates the stat changes...

1) I'll agree that Augment Summoning is rather potent. But I don't think it's broken. For Druids, who spend a lot of time summoning, it's a necessity. It evens out to a slightly better melee attack and damage and some more staying power, it's overall effect is to keep low-level summoning spells relevant and mid to high levels. For one creature it isn't worth it, but when you've got a small horde of creatures all doing extra damage, it adds up.
2) Wizards and Sorcerers have a large number of attack conjuration spells, most of which use touch attacks. Nonetheless, there are enough spells involving saving throws, including those from to make Spell Focus worthwhile. For Clerics and Druids, it makes their basic attack spells much more effective.
That being said, I think the idea of Augment Summoning and Improved Augment summoning is very good idea, in keeping with existing rules.

I hate the stat changes too. The idea of a non-prereq version of this has a lot of appeal.
A second summoning spell that shortened the casting time to a Standard action and gave an additional +1 attack and damage would be a sweet follow up.
