Rogue Minor / Major Magic - spellcasting?

Classes: Bard, Monk, and Rogue

Scarab Sages

Do the Minor Magic and Major Magic talents actually count as being able to cast spells? The abilities say you gain "the ability to cast a 0/1st-level spell", but then goes on to say "as a spell-like ability".

For example, could a rogue with Major Magic qualify to become an Arcane Archer? Which, under Requirements, lists "Ability to cast 1st-level arcane spells."

Would this rogue require material components?

etc.

I've been wondering the same things. I do, however, think that they are SLA's, but if not...wow, the possibilities... :D

Thinking about it some more, I have to imagine they're intended to be actually spell-like abilities, especially considering the (Sp) after the talent names. My issue is the initial phrasing. If it was phrased more like "You gain the ability to use a 0/1st-level spell as a spell-like ability.", I would find it much less confusing.

An official statement would still be nice. 8^)
