male Gnome Monk 1

Seeing the one tallfolk deliberately going over every inch of furniture Gavrin attempts to help by moving things out of his way and assisting in any way he can

::Aid Another Perception d20+2= 7::

After realizing that his attempts to assist seem to be hampering more than helping Gavrin moves back into a corner to quietly watch, he does however stop to talk to the owner

Goblins tend to be cave and tunnel dwellers, the party might need a competent spelunker, I'm more than ready to offer my assistance if you can also provide a pony, I'm afraid I'm not very good with horses.

Shadow Lodge

Sehkola you find scratches on the windows lock, showing how the goblins got in. It appears they picked the lock...

"Hm, you may be right... sorry I didn't catch your name. I can indeed provide I pony for you, or perhaps a riding dog? No matter I can provide either, as well as provisions for the group."

Lashara you do indeed detect one aura, and after a few seconds you realize that the goblins were imploying illusion magic. You believe that is how they managed to get in the city undetected. You do start to worry about who cast such long-lasting magics....

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Finding this information out, Sehkola suggests to the others, "Let us check outside for tracks, perhaps they will lead us the way!"

He will head outside and look around for other tracks, etc. Once again, he will take 20 on the Perception check.

Shadow Lodge

Surprisingly enough with all the traffic you find.... no tracks.

" Ma'am I'm going to get the rest of my stuff from my room, then I will be back to watch over you while the others search the Inn for your child. " Elijah walks pass Sheriff Hemlock on his way up the stairs and whispers to him, " I'm wondering if the whole family might be the target, we should probably keep an eye on the missus until we know what is going on. "

With that Elijah heads to his room and proceeds to finish gearing up.

male Gnome Monk 1

A pony would be fine mam I'm no cavalier. and also maybe some rations for the journey, just some bread, meat, and cheese would be fine. We don't know how long we'll be gone.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Back with the rest of the group again, Sehkola will inform them that he found no tracks of any kind outside.

"Do you not find it unusual that around an inn, where many people stay, there are no tracks? Very strange," he says to them. "I am unsure that we will find anything else here; does anyone have any other ideas or should we depart and follow the map? If it truly was goblins who have taken the woman's son, I fear greatly for his safety."

male Gnome Monk 1

Excuse me I just want to examine your husband
Gavrin heads downstairs to examine the husbands body to see what killed him if it wasn't the snake

::Heal 1d20+7=16::

Female Half-orc Rogue 1

Kora shrugged. "I dunno. This many people going in and out and around town tonight, any tracks could have been ruined real quick I reckon."

It's clear she's going off guesswork.

"Hell, it might be best to just follow the map now. Probably ain't much time..." she stopped a bit late, realizing it might not be best to talk about the child's likely fate in front of his mother.

Shadow Lodge

"If you need me I will be getting the supplies for the trip." She then walks into the kitchen, you can hear her yelling for the cooks to get to work. She returns about ten minutes later.
"Here you go, food for you and your mounts. You may leave when you are ready. Good luck and may the gods smile down upoun you."

If everyone believes they are ready I would like to start the next part of this campiagn.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

ready to move on!

Just continue to post here. (this is for those that might look for other threads)

You have all gained 250 xp, btw.

After getting his armor on and saying a quick prayer to Desna for a safe journey Elijah walks back downstairs.

" I want to be sure that Aurelia will be safe when we leave to try and find her child. What's happened here is a tragedy, but it would be worse so for us to return and find the rescued young one an orphan. Sheriff Hemlock will you keep her safe? " Elijah looked around and made sure everyone was ready. " We should head out soon. "

Elijah stops right before the door as he had a thought...

Turning around he starts using his detect evil while walking throughout the inn... someone could still be hiding here he thinks to himself grimly and if they are I have a surprise for them!

Female Human Cleric lv1

"We may have a problem. The goblins seem to be employing magic. What worries me is that goblins are exactly known for their mages..."

::Lashara says a quick pray and departs to wait with the horses (and pony). As she leaves she says a blessing over Aurelia.

"May light shine upoun you and your family to lead you through these trying times."

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Sehkola looks at his horse. "We are supposed to get on these?" he asks, nervously. Used to walking his entire life, he is very shaky getting on the beast (and it may even balk a bit at his size), but eventually settles on.

"I share your worries in regards to these 'goblins'," he says to Lashara. "However, I am unsure what more we can learn in the little time we may have. We may have to ... what is the expression ... 'feather it'? when we find them."

Shadow Lodge

::Let us continue.::

You begin your journey to the goblins island home, each worrying about what may happen when you get there. You arrive around noon at the bridge leading over to the island, and looking across the expanse you can see no activity on the other side and nothing else for that matter except for a few trees that seem out of place so close to the cliff. What do you do?

Female Human Cleric lv1

"Strange, I wouldn't have thought there was a bridge to the island."

Perception: d20+3=19 (listen or spot, whichever is needed.)
(Yay! My highest roll yet!)

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Sehkola will gratefully dismount and look at the ground for signs of tracks or anything (especially small, goblin-like ones).

Perception (1d20-1=19)

The tense situation allows Sehkola to drown out the sounds of wind in his head that usually distract him (Natural 20!)

"Wouldn't think we'd let it remain knowing there was one." Kora gruffly added. "Oughta burn the damn thing down." She wasn't thrilled with the idea of crossing it, or going too near the cliff.

Those trees caught her interest though...Perception: 7...but not for long.

Shadow Lodge

Other than the bug cralwing up Elijah's arm, you notice nothing of interest. There are some fresh tracks leading to the island though.

As elijah shifts uneasily in the saddle he catches sight of the bug out of the corner of his eye. A quick look of panick crosses his face as he swats at it hard with a his fist, finally squishing it after missing twice in his hurry to get it off him.

:: Ride Check d20 (6) + 0 = 6 ::

Without realising it in his haste Elijah had moved too suddenly for his mount spooking it. The horse rears up and dumps Elijah on the group, then stares at him (Elijah) like he's stupid.

" Stupid bugs Elijah mutters, " stupid horse. "

male Gnome Monk 1

Well if there's nothing to do but go across gavrin dismounts in the middle of his speach lets go across shall we, lousy goblins aren't going to wait too long before they put the child in a stew pot.

attempting to lead the bigfolk to quiker action by example gavrin sets off across the bridge on foot

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

Seeing the gnome set off across the bridge, Sehkola mutters to himself, "And my father called me impetuous ..." and sets off after Gavrin.

Female Human Cleric lv1

"Will our light be enough to pierce this darkness?"
Lashara will also follow but will keep a tight grip on the bridges edge/rail/rope.

Shadow Lodge

Are you going to do anything Kora?

:: Don't worry your fear comes later....::

Female Half-orc Rogue 1

What kind of bridge is it? Suspension, wooden?

Kora followed the others over the bridge, determined not to look down. "Seriously, let's burn the damn thing on our way out." she said to no one in particular.

Shadow Lodge

It is a rope bridge. Do not worry it is very sturdy.

Sovereign Court

Male Gnome Bard/3

Gavrin looks down as the party follows him behind on the bridge, he is specifically looking for any caverns or tunnels below the bridge on the far side they could climb down to to enter from instead of going in topside.

Any of you guys competent climbers, or have any rope?

::Perception d20+2=7::

Damn I can't roll worth a damn aparently

Shadow Lodge

You spot no entrances in the cliff.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

"No more than a few trees as a child. I have not climbed anything in many years."

Shadow Lodge

Feel free to have some fun, climb that tree!

No I mean now that we have crossed the bridge what are we looking at is there a path in the trees, a cave entrance, a thicket? or is it just a couple of trees to close to the edge?

;;perception d20+2=20::

Shadow Lodge

Ah I see. You have indeed crossed the bridge safely. Once across you notice some tracks leading to a rough trail. At this point the map has reached it's borders and can no longer guide you.

Female Human Cleric lv1

"So my friends do we follow the tracks onto the unknown?"

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

"The trees seem odd. We should approach very carefully; it seemed these 'goblins' used illusions once, they may use it again ..."

Shadow Lodge

Closer inspection shows that the trees are real.

male Gnome Monk 1

Well if the trees are real, then we have something more important to deal with, who can track these footprints, I've never spent time in the wilderness myself unless it was a cave. lead the way bigfolk. If my skills will be of service I'll step to the fore again but for now, it's your show.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

"Unfortunately, I was not a hunter of my tribe. I am unskilled in tracking. If they become too hard to see directly, I will be of no use. But let us follow them for as long as we can."

Elijah starts concentrating on detecting any evil in the area. He slowly sweeps his senses one way, then the other without saying a word. Slowly he continues to walk around looking for a source to pinpoint on.

"I got some. I'm pretty good at it too." Kora replied before shrugging. "Trackin', not so much."

Taking sekhola's advice Gavrin sets off following the trail of footprints

Male Human (Mwangi - Bekyar) Sorcerer 2 (Air Elemental Bloodline)

As the group proceeds, Sehkola remains wary of danger. He keeps his spear out, and his right hand tingles with electricity ...

Shadow Lodge

sorry for not posting lately

As you follw the tracks you notice there are three different sets of footprints. You do not recognize two but you realize one set as human(or at least somethinf of similar size), and from the prints impression in the ground you can guess they are a woman's.

male Gnome Monk 1

It seems the goblins were not acting of their own accord.
continues to follow the tracks I find it strange that they didn't bother to conceal their tracks, I believe we may be walking into a trap of some kind.

Female Human Cleric lv1

Are the woman's track below or on top of the goblins?

"I am beginning to wonder if these are goblins at all. Everyone be ready." Do the tracks appear to be leading anywhere we can determine?
